Hi all, i have just finished my first year of a HND textile course, we had an end of year fashion show to show our garments to friends and family. We had to make four garments a wastecoat, circle skirt, cape and full outfit. I won't bore you with the back story for each one but I'd just like to point out the cape is by far my fave!:)

On to the pictures!

Wastecoat

Full outfit, red dress and wasit clincher belt and funky necklace(yes i made that too)

My wonderful cape....mmm tartan!

Circle skirt with patchwork detail.

Any comments good or bad would be appreciated.

Thank you for that bit of advice about clipping corners and curves, always thought mines looked 'funny'!

my original sketch.

The top part is the bit i'm trying to make, i know how to do the bottom part.

What i came up with, the pieces fit me well but i just don't have a clue how to put the lining on to it!!!
They i've sewn it in this picture is totally wrong as the hole part just got stuck in the little tube made for the strap.

I really hope this helps!!

24  Fabric origami cranes! in Completed Projects by FeeSewBug on: April 13, 2008 03:35:43 PM
Hullo

I have a cool plan to make a skirt with the lyrics to Regina Skeptors song Samson on it. In the video there are cute paper cranes, i thought these would be a cute applique for the skirt too...
here's what i came up with...

I still have to figure out how to put the lyrics on, neatly as the skirt is a light creamy colour..any suggestions?

25  Bag making madness!!! (img heavy) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by FeeSewBug on: March 30, 2008 05:07:36 PM
Hi to all
I have made six bags over the weekend, trying out different style and shapes (I think 'the jordy' is my fav!)
So here they are in all their bagygoodness

Reversable pink and black tote bag (pink contrast stitching!)

Hand dyed (with bleach) flower bag reversable with blue lining.

Strawberry print reversable tote with applique strawberry and red lining.

Two shades blue butterfly applique bag.

Blue reverse applique butterfly bag with icky light blue ployester lining.

The one i like most.....'A bird on a wire' bag. White cotton with applique birds and purple lining.

Front

Closeup

cute button closure

Back

Inside with two pockets and applique birds.

I used three different tutorials for these bags.

Comments and criticisms would be helpful as i plan to start selling them!

26  Corset belt/waist clincher HELP! in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by FeeSewBug on: January 31, 2008 11:48:17 AM
Help!!
I began making this corset belt/ waist clincher but i've hit a problem. I'll explain what i tried to do first, I wanted to make a wide belt with boning and lacing up the back much like an underbust corset. I began by making my outerlayer (the pink satin) i then made my inside layer (the purple upholsetry fabric) yeah i know it's for chairs but i don't have anything else. I then attached boning to the wrong side of my purple layer, pinned the purple and pink layers right side together and sewed them up. Now my problem is the bottom hem...i don't know how to do it? I thought about sewing it inside out but i don't know if this would work?

This is the front

This is the inside

This is me holding it where it's going to sit and how it's going to look....all i need is to close the bottom, whch is were my problem lies.

I would be so greatful for your help!

27  New to Tote! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by FeeSewBug on: January 26, 2008 02:05:13 PM
Hullo, I'm new to the whole bag making thing. So I tried Belle Epoque's tutorial for a tote bag and I'm very pleased with the results and it was easy to make too!

Hope you like them, comments and such would be appreciated

29  underbust corsets! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by FeeSewBug on: August 14, 2007 01:14:01 PM
Hey all this is my second clothing post  Grin
I've made three underbust 'corsets' using a self drafted pattern, so on to the pictures!!

The first one made from a silky fabric that had no give at all. I'm a poor student so the boning is made from strips of plastic food mat. I had to lace up the front because at this time i didn't have money for hook and eyes.

one side flat out.

The second corset made fron striped streach denim (BIG MISTAKE) this streached too much and didn't fit me poperly around under the bust.

Also i got hook and eye tape but put it in the wrong way round. Excuse the face Tongue

This was my thrid attempt i made the corset a little smaller around the waist but then it didn't fit me.
This was made from linen i dyed myself, i'm really plased with this one.

Laid out flat, yes i am aware it looks squint  Embarrassed

These were only test garments, Any comments or helpful advise would be greatly appreciated!

30  Purple Shorts!!!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by FeeSewBug on: August 13, 2007 12:56:15 PM
Hullo, this is my first clothing post on this lovely site so bear(Rawr!) with me.
I made these shorts using an easy burda pattern, the first three pictures are how the shorts looked after i extended the pattern, the last pic shows them shortened. I had alot of trouble putting in a zip properly, so that came out and i put in a hook 'n' eye. I think i may have used the wrong kind of fabric, it feels like thick upholstery fabric but anyway it was my first go and i was really pleased with how they came out.
(my boyfriend said they looked grannyish but i think this may be the fabric???)

Shortened shorts...

Comments or any advise would be greatly appreciated as i'm going into my first year of textile and fashion design in a few weeks and i'm a total novice!

Thanks muchly
