I've managed to fit in a little work on my journal today and yesterday - as well as being on the market yesterday morning, feeling ill and making a silver ring today!

My revamped yellow page - I have painted over some of the smudged bits, covered it in yellow paper which you can still see through a bit, drawn the banana in pen and also used some yellow paint on it, and the yellow bag is now the skin but you cant tell that from the photo. Thw other writing on the page is a recipe for sweet tortillas with bananas and caramel sauce! (which I havnt tried)

My blue page so far is very simple and the first of my pages using my FIRST ATC, I may add to it in the future though. The writing on it is written by a homeless person and says

"Today
Today I shall not mourn,
Just see that smiling sun,
Feel that eager wind,
Touch that deep blue sky,
This is what I hoped for,
Then I fell asleep last night,
Life."

And not strictly journal but here are another two ATCs I made either to use in my journal or send to someone else as inspiration for theirs.

I've also got a few more backgrounds started.

Danni - loving the lady with the stripey dress, and the textures with the ribbons.
What are people doing next then? I like the layers in my rainbow pages but I am going to try and do some with more spaces in them too.

Im still working on mine. Yellow page was supposed to be done but i might do it again, it didnt really work and its very mucky....I think I should have collaged and then drawn the banana on in pen or something? Any thoughts?
Then a nice green page, no blue yet and a fun purple one. (anyone with kids will know what TV program I was watching today!!)

In real life the yellow page looks worse and the purple one better - the photo isnt very clear but the little girl (Lola) is drawn in silver pen on a clear envelope window.

P.S. Im loving doing this - I am finding the journalling great fun and theraputic and this thread is realy inspiring and full of good ideas as well as being sociable...but...does anyone else find it really nerve-wracking posting things? I always worry everytime i post a page, what do people think? what will people say? Will they mean what they say? why is my style different? should it be the same?
Anyone else get nervous?

Wow  theres so much going on in this thread now

Thanks for all the info on transfer methods I have just got to wait now until I have some time to try them!! Maybe after the rainbow?

Danni I love your pages, I love using my acrylics but I think I am going to try some where the writing shows through a bit more like in these.  My favourite bit is at the top of the Orange page where that triangle looks almost like it is another orange page behind it. Oh and the coloured swirls on both backgrounds. Seems to beat me to using a banana as yellow but I might do one anyway! Whats the strip down the side of the green page? Looks like painted kitchen roll...but good.

Asphalt love your ATCs Im trying to do some to swap and some to incorporate into my journal I just found a whole load of sample packs for different card types which are a little bigger than ATCs so a little cutting down and then im ready!

Here is my progress so far - yellow, green and blue backgrounds which need work doing on them

And my felting piece which i put in a hole in another page so you can see it through from the previous page (both not finished)

Heres my red and orange pages. I keep intending to do something that I count as art instead of cutting and sticking!!! But I keep collaging instead of drawing!

I am pleased with these . And Im SOO pleased that for some reason I once decided an Old El Paso free recipe booklet would be a good thing to keep for crafting cos its got fab SINGLE COLOUR pages and writing in it!! Plus I used some red paint, red shiny paper, a pressed flower, some orange (I know the pictures are red - sorry) wrapping paper my parents bought me a present back from Venice in, some orange shiny paper and some felt tips.

I love it Phizzy - extending the drawing off it is very effective!

Heres my latest then, very simple - Im addicted to this at the moment - I think its procrastination!! This is the page before the contents page hence no writing on it

Ok here goes again.
A 'new' book that I dont read anymore and some materials which I am more at home with - acrylic paints, masking tape, collage, sequins and a hole punch.

You cant see it very well but the writing is "nothing but the truth"

Actually it looks a lot better in real life cos you get all the layers - Im a lot more pleased with this one than the last one (which I may try again some time!)

Ok here goes, Im planning to try and experiment with different techniques in this book - this one is watercolour pencils, collage and fineliner pen at the moment. its not finished cos all my art materials are not in the same place so I can't finish it til this weekend or maybe next week!

Here is my inspiration - a postcard i picked up at the gym

And then my pages based loosely around it, its kind of two separate pages but also they link together. The first page I plan to do the lady in something stronger like black ink and then maybe something more with the background. I want to write "water your seeds of imagination" or something similar in the space. The second page is more finished and Im not sure whether to do some more on it or not.

Any thoughts? Opinions and advice?
Any body else got any pages - finished or not?

28  Better than "half and half" bread in Recipes and Cooking Tips by Gemcraft on: May 19, 2008 05:17:27 AM
I am SOO pleased with this bread - its half white and half wholemeal. To be honest it just tastes like bread but I am SO pleased with how it looks. I might try again with a tastier bread recipe, this is just with instant yeast.

I also made some single colour spirals with the dough I had left (sort of bread swiss role)
- white spiral with honey - very nice
- wholemeal spiral with tomato and cheese - ok, a little too much tomato, too little cheese
- wholemeal with mashed banana and peanut butter - I know I have strange tastes but I knew I would like this one cos I make a very nice banana bread which is good with peanut butter!

29  Re: Inchie Exchange Gallery LOADS OF PICS in The Swap Gallery by Gemcraft on: February 11, 2008 03:52:10 AM
Here are my inchies received this last week

From Kaleesi - I ADORE these, they are one of my favourite lots

From megrenae3 - these are made on old Christmas cards which i think is SOO cool.

From darkladymajesta - I love the how the stamping on these looks so old.

From scrapnqueen - these look much better in real life - the lines of them are raised and sparkly. I love the crinkle edges heart.

From Christinacoghill - These are another of my favourites - I love how they are really chunky and textured

30  More silversmithing in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Gemcraft on: January 30, 2008 02:26:34 PM
Heres a little more of my silversmithing, mostly not finished yet

This one is a finished pendant

These second two are each just one piece of silver

This is a shaped but not polished ring. Also I wil probably put some decoration of some sort on the wings but not sure what yet

And this is just a preview, a basic mock up in scrap metal of another ring

Edit - perhaps i should say this last one is just a mock up for the design, just cut to shape so the edges would be filed and sanded to curves!!! Think smoothed edges, little stones/crystals somehow. I shall post when i make it!!!
