1  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Where to buy pyramid STUDS?! on: November 16, 2009 01:57:29 AM
I know there are plenty of places online but I don't want to pay huge shipping fees.

Does anyone know where I can find Pyramids studs in bulk lots (like 100 - 200) in large-ish and smaller size?

Many thanks!
2  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / 17 metres of sequins later.... RUBY SLIPPERS! on: August 28, 2009 07:27:54 PM
After um-ing and ahh-ing about making my own ruby slippers for quite some time, I took the plunge after seeing these lovely replicas:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23479177

So I promptly went out and bought the shoes (black leather pumps, I wasn't going for exact replicas but I did want the thick heel), 10 metres of sequins and a bottle of fabric/leather glue.

However, once I finished one shoe and the heel of the other, I found that 10 metres was NOT enough!!
So I had to go all the way back to the shop and get 7 more metres - It didn't help that the shops with the cheapest sequins didn't have red Sad

All in all, they took me about 3 days but only about 2-3 hours each day.
On to the pictures!!

ETA: Here's a HQ picture if anyone wanted to see a closeup.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Exposed zips!? on: April 08, 2009 01:25:27 AM
So I am really inspired by the dresses with exposed zips down the front, how ever I don't know how to sew them!
Does anyone have any tips for me?
I haven't sewn a normal zip in a while (only invisible ones) so i'm a lil rusty and I don't want the zip to go allllll the way to the bottom of the dress so I need to know how to finish the seam and hem.

Here are some pics of what I sort of want:

This is a coat but it's similar to what I like

I like this one but only if the ended at about half way.

So can anyone help me? Cheesy

Shrink plastic birds on perches

Cute love bird cabs with faux pearl chains

Small nest with faux pearls and a small plastic swallow

Heavy bow that used to be a pair of earrings (would have killed my ears to wear!) and a plastic heart chain

Little plastic gems and faux pearls

6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Mucha, Snow White, Birds plus a WIP (tad img heavy) on: March 15, 2008 04:23:06 PM
Woo i've been busy, bout about 4 t shirts one day coz they were all $5.
Went back the next day and got 6 more - 3 for $10
Some were for me, my sister, friends and then a couple for our netball teams training t shirts.

These aren't really silk screens but they are screen printing with stencils so I hope I put this in the right place.

I really love the Art Nouveau art so I decided to make a stencil from one of Alphonse Mucha's artwork.
Man it was painful to cut out  Shocked
The T shirt is a really nice dark purple but it doesn't show up too well in the pic.
Used gold paint on this one.

Snow white t shirt.
Bit of trial and error with the red paint on black
Ended up hand painting it in white THEN painting red over the top.

These two will end up as tote bags whenever I can be bothered to finish sewing them.
Gold and silver paint

And finally my pride and joy.
Based on:
http://img.hottopic.com/is/image/HotTopic/203950_hi?$product$
But I plan on painting it in Ariel's traditional colours but maybe a bit more pastely.

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Green Mermaid Tote on: March 06, 2008 07:22:57 PM
Very proud of this Cheesy
Made the tote bag out of this cheap green canvas that I fell in love with at the fabric shop.
Very easy pattern i drafted - only took a couple of hours.
Once it was made I screen printed the mermaid stencil, ta da!

also added the random little felt bow and little mermaid pin.
8  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Hand painted Little Mermaid shoes on: March 06, 2008 07:15:47 PM
Haha I absolutely love these.
All hand painted with fabric paint onto blue canvas shoes

9  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / NEW ZEALAND / Fabric Panels on: February 23, 2008 12:15:57 AM
Sorry I always ask questions here but I'm just interested if anyone has seen these around in NZ?

Or any other type of disney fabric that's nice rather than some of the tacky stuff at spotlight.

I haven't been there in a while so I don't know what selection is like at Spotlight

Thanks
