2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: "If I Only Had a Name" Fingerless Mitts on: February 10, 2008 11:52:01 AM
so gorgeous!  I'll bet purling in the round is just as much fun as knitting into the back loop on circs (for some reason I forgot how to knit on one project  Roll Eyes by the time it was done, I liked purling more!).

no pressure, but I'd love to see a pattern for them, they look so warm.
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My first quilt - for my son (IMG HEAVY) on: February 04, 2008 09:29:20 PM
awesome, and SO cute!   Cheesy
4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Um ... let's call it early for next year! 16-piece nativity set on: February 04, 2008 09:28:17 PM
WOW!  Not only is this awesome, but your story is hilarious!

I LOVE your sheep... a fibre fan's bias, no doubt!

If you can, and you're ambitious/interested enough, I'd suggest making some sort of bottle-type thing for your frankincense... 'cause if all else fails, you could say "it's in there"  ... whether it's like I Dream of Jeannie or more urn-like, I'm sure it'd make sense.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: TSA proofing my crafting on: February 03, 2008 08:20:22 PM
I just flew to Mexico and back (returned 1am Sat. morning), stopping in Phoenix en-route, at which point they re-searched all my possessions.  Not only did my circular needles not get caught, but the air stewards all delighted in my knitting.

I don't think it's a problem.  Just bring some big stitch holders with you in case they decide to confiscate things and you want to keep your project.

It annoyed me when knitting was banned because, really, if we can't have knitting needles (or crochet hooks), why are we allowed pens and pencils?  But it would seem all's been rectified (even nail clippers and scissors under 4 inches pass TSA ruling).  I just wouldn't bring a yarn needle with me if I were you!

this is exactly the kind of sweater I need.   Grin
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: ** UPDATED with experiment results page 4- Types of yarn and their insulatio on: February 02, 2008 07:16:50 PM
I don't know how I'd suggest improving things, but I do have a question:

there's corn yarn?  what company makes it?

oh, maybe for improvements, try knitting different patterns to see what's warmest?  e.g. garter vs stockinette or something... they say cables keep the heat in better...
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: 1st Baby Sweater (x4!) on: February 02, 2008 07:14:15 PM
super cute!  and for quadruplets??  Shocked
WOW!  I hope the parents love them, because they're absolutely adorable (though it might be a challenge to tell the kids apart!  Cheesy).
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Thrummed Mittens on: February 02, 2008 06:45:54 PM
ooo... jealous!

those look awesome, I really could have used something like that last night when I got into my frozen car at 2am...

totally allowed, don't fret.

I love the colours, what yarn is it?
