Glad she is recognizable... Smiley This is the kind of sock monkeys that I am specializing on - so she looks a little like them, I hope.

These are some of the avatars I have used so far - I will work on more when I feel like it. Smiley

4  A new website for my spokesmonkey in Get Product and Website Opinions by gilowyn on: September 17, 2007 03:26:43 AM
Okay, I have given the website a relaunch, as well as the blog. I would appreciate if you guys stopped by and had a look?

URLs can be found in my signature.

-----------------------------------------------

This is Blossom, my new spokesmonkey. She will be the face of Strumpfkunst from now on and has just signed a multi million banana contract. Blossom brought cookies along to the interview, so that kind of sealed the deal.

Blossom will change outfits, colors, and positions frequently, especially on the Etsy forums, so I am hoping to have a recognition factor coupled with some fun. She will also be involved in my website relaunch, which I need to get done within the next couple of weeks.

My decision to go for a spokesmonkey also had a lot to do with how I want to develop in the future. I have now settled on "my" style of sock monkeys and will do only monkeys and dogs in the future.

Do you like Blossom? Do you recognize that it is a monkey? Blossom had to undergo slight surgery last night when someone thought she was a cow.... Smiley

I like doing sock dogs right now - and monkeys. Smiley

6  Re: SHIPPING - What special things do you do when shipping your orders? in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by gilowyn on: September 08, 2007 01:40:04 AM

This is what my packaging looks like - brown paper bag, a button with the critter (and my domain name) plus a nice ribbon. In the bag, I usually include some small bags of sweets from Germany and of course my business cards.

7  Re: Felt Stuffie Questions in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions by gilowyn on: September 07, 2007 02:24:19 PM
It really depends on which book you have... I have been doing felt mascots for a short while, and use 3mm felt for those - that is a lot thicker than what is usually recommended (1,5mm), but I use them as keychains.

In this case, I have first embroidered the face, then attached the face to the front, sewn it together, and stuffed at the end, then continue sewing. It is actually recommended to leave a slit in the back for stuffing, but that was with thinner felt and an attached body.

She's being mean, though - the dog was meant for her son, and now he didn't get it after all... it is sitting on her desk. Smiley

She's part of DaWanda and we are keeping in touch, which is something I love about that community... the same thing I love about Craftster, I guess, a real sense of community. Etsy sometimes is too big for that, though I am keeping in touch with some great people there as well. Smiley

I gotta share one more sock dog - also helpful if you are looking for some more examples.

9  Re: Tiny stuffies - goat, squirrel, and kitties in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by gilowyn on: September 05, 2007 02:11:18 AM
I have the same book, and I am honestly in love with Japanese craft books... they are so darn cute.

Recognize my key chain? Smiley

I usually embroider the faces, and don't actually work with the exact pattern, but just get my ideas from the book... which is fun as well.
