1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Inspiration for a Biathlete on: January 04, 2011 09:19:55 PM

Made for a Secret Santa gift exchange in my knitting group. I drew my running/biathlon partner, so, of course, I had to make something inspirational. Here's the result. This was my first foray into colorwork, and for the most part I enjoyed it.

I did have some issues with the pattern. The top was originally all colorwork, and it was supposed to be finished with a tri-top. But the instructions for it really weren't clear, and I flubbed that up. Had to go back and snip and re-knit the top. It turned out well though.

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / A Hat Fit for a Husband on: January 01, 2010 12:36:32 PM
I made myself a hat to go with my new coat, and my husband decided he wanted a hat as well, but something manly. So, I headed over to Ravelry and found the pattern A Hat Fit for a Boyfriend: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/a-hat-fit-for-a-boyfriend . I had some black Cascade 220 Wool in my stash that I used (because the hubbs said the green yarn I wanted to use wasn't manly enough). Knit on US 8 circulars, I CO 10 extra sts. just so it wouldn't be too tight and give him hat hair.

The hubbs wouldn't stop playing computer games long enough to let me get a good picture.

The decreasing ribs:

Ignore the dog hair...two dogs and black wool don't mix.

C/C welcome
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Who? Hat--First Cable Experience on: December 31, 2009 09:16:42 AM
I got a new coat this winter and decided I needed a hat to match, so I searched Ravelry and found this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/who-2 and fell in love with it. I was a bit intimidated because I've only been knitting for a few months, but I decided to try it. I figured if it turned out bad, I'd frog it.

But I'm in love with it! It was such an easy knit, and it turned out so well. I used Cascade 220 wool, which I loved working with.

And me in the hat:

I got a bit impatient and started decreasing before I should've. I might make another one in a bit bigger size.

Thanks for looking! C/C appreciated!
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Considering selling dinner as art on: July 23, 2009 02:15:28 PM

Do you think anyone would buy these?? Too crazy or quirky? More than likely, I'd either try on etsy or a local craft show.

What would you pay for them (or would you?)

I've made different colors and sizes; bowls and mugs; different drawings on the dinnerware; and some dinnerware with patterns--like cherry blossom china and such.

What do you think, Craftster?
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Dinner as Art on: July 23, 2009 01:59:25 PM
My latest creation. I can't decide if it's quirky or crazy. What do you all think, Craftsterland?

It's pretty straight-forward...painted canvas, silverware, and drawn-on plate.

Close up...

And further away...ignore the computers. It's the best place I could find to prop it up.

I'd really appreciate comments/criticism! Thanks for looking!!
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Do the Darned Dishes Scrubbie on: July 20, 2009 08:24:39 PM
I hate doing dishes, so I thought having a pretty scrubbie would make them more enjoyable...doesn't work. But the scrubbie is cute.

Made with I Love This Cotton using a pattern in Crochet! Today (I think May's issue??--I can look it up if anyone is interested.) It was a really fun pattern, and really easy.

I really like the way the bottom looks.

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby Blanket from H-E-double L on: July 20, 2009 08:21:49 PM
I'm an instant-gratification kind of girl...so, crocheting a baby-ghan in all single-crochet was not a good idea...but I did it. And I do like the way it turned out. But it was so incredibly tedious. I hope this kid carries the blanket until she's in college!!

Crocheted using Bernat Varigated Cotton and a small hat to match.

The mommy-to-be loved it, and I suppose that's what matters.

C/C welcome! Thanks for looking!
8  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Yarn Ball Stamp on: July 20, 2009 08:18:57 PM
My first attempt at rubber stamp carving. On a whim I bought a kit, and I love it. This was the first.

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / 20's Style Beaded Flower Necklaces on: July 20, 2009 08:17:32 PM
I found these pretty flower pendants at Michael's, and they were just dying to be necklaces.

**Disclaimer: My husband was more interested in taking artsy fartsy pictures of me than getting good pictures of my necklaces.**

I LOVE asymmetry. This one wears awkward though because the pendant is too heavy. It keeps wanting to slip down. (Ignore my face. This was after way too many of said artsy pictures.)

C/C welcome! Thanks for looking!
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pears, apples and aprons, Oh my! on: May 12, 2009 03:43:34 PM
I made this apron as a thank-you gift for a friend. It really came together quickly, and she absolutely loved it. I have more of the fabric, so I'm thinking I need to make another one.

Thanks for checking it out!!
