Thanks!! Carrying the yarn makes the hat double-layered...very warm for winter running.

And as much as the hat annoyed me, my partner did like it.

Thanks for the feedback!!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Inspiration for a Biathlete on: January 04, 2011 09:19:55 PM

Made for a Secret Santa gift exchange in my knitting group. I drew my running/biathlon partner, so, of course, I had to make something inspirational. Here's the result. This was my first foray into colorwork, and for the most part I enjoyed it.

I did have some issues with the pattern. The top was originally all colorwork, and it was supposed to be finished with a tri-top. But the instructions for it really weren't clear, and I flubbed that up. Had to go back and snip and re-knit the top. It turned out well though.

So, mailing today is out. I'm trapped in my house because of a gas leak. Utility company and fire trucks have been out there since 10:00 a.m. So, I'm just hanging out and knitting today.

Ugh. Started what I thought would be an awesome project...isn't turning out so awesome. Trying to decide if it can be salvaged or if I need to come up with something else. I do have several back-up plans.

I'm on vacation right now, so if I'm incommunicato, that's why. Buuuut, I'm getting ready to head to Denver to hit up some LYS and crafty stores, and hopefully I'll find what I need for my partner's wisty-inspired project.
