Made for a Secret Santa gift exchange in my knitting group. I drew my running/biathlon partner, so, of course, I had to make something inspirational. Here's the result. This was my first foray into colorwork, and for the most part I enjoyed it.



I did have some issues with the pattern. The top was originally all colorwork, and it was supposed to be finished with a tri-top. But the instructions for it really weren't clear, and I flubbed that up. Had to go back and snip and re-knit the top. It turned out well though.

I made myself a hat to go with my new coat, and my husband decided he wanted a hat as well, but something manly. So, I headed over to Ravelry and found the pattern A Hat Fit for a Boyfriend: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/a-hat-fit-for-a-boyfriend . I had some black Cascade 220 Wool in my stash that I used (because the hubbs said the green yarn I wanted to use wasn't manly enough). Knit on US 8 circulars, I CO 10 extra sts. just so it wouldn't be too tight and give him hat hair.


The hubbs wouldn't stop playing computer games long enough to let me get a good picture.

The decreasing ribs:


Ignore the dog hair...two dogs and black wool don't mix.

I got a new coat this winter and decided I needed a hat to match, so I searched Ravelry and found this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/who-2 and fell in love with it. I was a bit intimidated because I've only been knitting for a few months, but I decided to try it. I figured if it turned out bad, I'd frog it.

But I'm in love with it! It was such an easy knit, and it turned out so well. I used Cascade 220 wool, which I loved working with.

I got a bit impatient and started decreasing before I should've. I might make another one in a bit bigger size.

(If you can't see it, that's an owl. These have already gotten so much use since my classroom is so cold.)

I've made different colors and sizes; bowls and mugs; different drawings on the dinnerware; and some dinnerware with patterns--like cherry blossom china and such.

I hate doing dishes, so I thought having a pretty scrubbie would make them more enjoyable...doesn't work. But the scrubbie is cute.

Made with I Love This Cotton using a pattern in Crochet! Today (I think May's issue??--I can look it up if anyone is interested.) It was a really fun pattern, and really easy.
