1  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 32 ENTRIES / Alice in Wonderland for the Club Scene on: November 04, 2008 07:49:01 PM
My friends and I went out Friday night as Alice in Wonderland characters - The Mad Hatter, the (blue) Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts, and Alice, of course.

I made my Alice costume - tutu, circle skirt, apron, armbands, neckband, headband (tanktop and knee highs were store-bought).

I altered my old homecoming dress and a silky black button-up for the Queen of Hearts outfit.  The dress started as a long slinky tube dress.  I just ruched/gathered/pleated the bottom of the dress on the sides and right in the middle of the front and back.  It draped in these amazing old-timey curtain loops. Wish I had a better picture...

The Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat each made their own outfits!

Sorry I don't have better shots of the whole outfits or anything "in process".  I still wish we had a white rabbit but maybe next year :-D  What do you think?

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Desperate Request for Simplicity 3693 on: September 19, 2008 06:56:00 PM
Hey everyone...I'm desperate for help!! I bought Simplicity 3693 last week and am trying to make the stuffed elephant.  Unfortunately I only have 2 pages of the directions due to want I'm assuming to be a printer malfunction.  I have the first and third pages (missing the backs of both pages).

This is the pattern I'm talking about:
http://images.patternreview.com/sewing/patterns/simplicity/3693/3693.jpg

So I got about half way through the elephant and now I'm out of instructions...and as this is the first stuffed animal I've ever made I'm not quite sure how to continue.  I would be FOREVER grateful for anyone who may have this pattern who could send me the directions I'm missing.  Just PM me and I can send you my email address. TIA!!!

thanks for all the feedback everyone!  After seeing the submissions that made it into the final contestants for the online challenge I know to step it up for the next challenge...they all looked so professional! Next challenge is reconstructing clothes from your closet btw (pretty perfect for this community!)

paulinerose - what a great idea! can't believe I didn't think of that.  I will glue chopsticks on this weekend and give it a try!

yea i agree on the skirt.  While I was working on it I didn't really realize it but once I saw the photos I thought "gee, it looks just like a lampshade...a waistband would have helped..."  Tim probably would have brought that to my attention right away though haha!

The lamp shade is plastic so definitely no sitting!

And as for who should have been kicked off...I think all 3 will be off soon enough - don't particularly care in what order they go :-P  But I think the guy they kicked off (Jerry) was the most boring of the 3 so probably a good decision.

Thanks for the feedback Smiley
