One more q: When it/you say "thirteen stitches of the heel," does that mean right down the center of the heal, or the back edge? I think that's where I'm confused.

Hi, this is my first post but I've been crocheting since... well, forever.

Anyways, I'm trying to make cowGIRL booties for a pregnant friend of mine from this pattern:

For Rnd 5, it says

Working on heel of sole, center 13 sts.  Working in front loops of rnd 3, with brown, join with sl st in first of 13 centered sts, sc in 11, sl st in next.  Fasten off.

Unfortunately, this makes zero sense to me. If anyone could clarify, or point me somewhere that could help me understand, that would be fabulous.
