1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Magazines / Clippings / Etc on: December 16, 2008 07:25:23 PM
Broadwaybabe, I've got a great use for all those magazines.  You can make recycled magazine boxes!  All you need are magazine pages, a ruler, a pencil and a glue stick.  You use a simple origami technique to make the boxes.  I'd include a photo here, but I haven't posted 10 times in the forums yet.... If you want to see what they look like and get step-by-step directions, just use this link.  It will take you directly to the tutorial.

2  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Re: Is it OK to post tutorial via link? on: December 16, 2008 12:44:35 AM
I just read the new rules about posting and sending people to your blog for more info., so I guess that answers my question.  Thanks!
3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Is it OK to post tutorial via link? on: December 16, 2008 12:25:56 AM
Just wonderiing if it's OK to post a tutorial here on Craftster via a link to another site.  I have some good tutorials with detailed directions and good pics already posted on another site.  Would love to share them here.  Is it OK to post them by linking to that site?  I own all rights to this material and can re-publish it anywhere I want.  Thanks for your help.
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Those rubber bracelets that are for causes? on: November 10, 2007 10:00:33 PM
I like Asbjorn's idea about the bathmat, only I'd assemble it by connecting the bracelets (uncut) as circles.  But maybe that wouldn't be too comfortable on the feet.
5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: Advertising your Etsy shop! on: September 12, 2007 10:41:55 PM
Sarawearskirts... regarding craigslist.... I pick a city and then list a product with photo.  Then in the body of the ad, I tell readers that the advertised item and others like it are available on my website.  I don't list any other contact info. other than my web address.  Hope this helps... Michele
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: What program do you use to track your expenses? on: September 06, 2007 12:50:00 AM
I use Paypal's online recordkeeping for my Etsy income and then I have paper files for other income from consignments, craft shows, etc.  For my expenses, believe it or not, I have a large manila envelope labeled "Expenses and Receipts" in which I keep notes, scraps, receipts and other paper records of my year's expenses.  Works for me.

Tothepointe... what a great name!  Thanks for checking my site out and for your helpful comment.  Putting a better chain on the vacuum tube piece is no problem.  I can do that if you're still interested.  What do you have in mind?... I hope this kind of discussion is allowed on craftster boards.  I know they don't want you to advertise on this board, so I hope I'm not breaking any rules.  I'm still new here and don't know.. Michele

Thanks for the feedback, Mary!  I've been spending more time on promoting. Handing business cards out like a fiend.  And yes, I'm wearing my own stuff.  You confirmed what I suspected: site's pretty much ok, but need to promote, promote!...

Thanks, Mirchita... Your comments were helpful and not at all rude!  I never considered the idea of "action shots."  Something to consider...
10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Need honest critique of my website on: August 29, 2007 09:39:27 AM
I have a shop on Etsy.  It's my first attempt to sell to a very wide audience, and I'd love to know if I'm on track.  Pls. feel free to critique anything about my shop, from the look of it to the items I'm selling and the prices.  Be honest... I can take it!
