1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Gir for baby on: May 07, 2006 05:43:33 PM

I knit this yesterday for a friend who is about to have a baby and who loves Invader Zim. It's Gir in his dog suit.

He's knit of Rowan Calmer and a sport weight cotton for the legs and arms. The rest is done with felt and cotton floss. He's understuffed to be extra snuggl. I'm actually going to have a hard time parting with him.  Grin
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My dragon backpack on: April 20, 2006 03:43:24 PM
I'm planning on offering a pattern for this soon. It was supposed to be published in a book but was cut at the last minute, so it's back home with me.
Anyway, I call him "Drake the Dreaded" he's a backpack.

The tongue is actually the handle for the tie that cinches the bag closed

And in back i have spots, spine and straps.

I think things with silly faces amuse me more than I should admit, and I have every intention of using this myself, despite the fact that I'm old enough to know better Wink
3  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Handspun shawl on: April 08, 2006 12:59:06 PM
This is my first big project from handspun

I've chronicled the whole process on my blog, but here are the project notes:
http://www.marniemaclean.com/words/2006/03/shawl_project_n.html

I'm really happy with the results. The roving is amazing stuff. I got it from http://nistockfarms.com and the color is called "Autumn Spice".
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Dragon Hoodie and Pattern Link on: September 06, 2004 01:18:32 AM
I've finally finished the pattern for my Dragon Hoodie that I designed for my boss's new baby, James.

That's the front, and here's the back

You can get the pattern here

It actually goes pretty quickly and only required 3 skeins of yarn for the medium size. You gotta love making baby stuff  Grin
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Nautilus Hat Pattern Link on: June 14, 2004 01:40:12 PM
I've just posted a new double pattern on my site for a his and hers hat I call "Nautilus Hats" because of their spiral increases at the crown.
The men's version

is much easier than the women's version
http://mlminspirations.com/patterns/Nautilus/thumnails/HerHat01.jpg
but I think I like it a little better Grin

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Dragon Baby Sweater on: May 24, 2004 03:24:08 PM
So my boss is having a little boy and she was lamenting the lack of super cute things for baby boys, so I thought I'd try to surprise her with something cute for her little man, not a moment too soon, either as her shower will be very soon.

Here are pics

I haven't entirely finished it. I may add pom-pom eye balls, I'm sort of on the line as I don't want to over do it.

There's a little (ok a BIG) part of me that wants to make one MY size, but that may come at a later date.

It's made with Red Heart's TLC Amore and let me say, if you can avoid working with this yarn, I would. It is great for baby clothes, soft, wash/dry able and non-allergetic, but it's a P.I.T.A. to work with, especially the finishing step. Just my 2
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Fuzzy Valentine on: March 29, 2004 09:46:36 AM

I've just finished a new piece I call "My Fuzzy Valentine" There's a pattern for my size, with other sizes to come available on my site
http://mlminspirations.com/patterns/FuzzyValentine/FV.html

It took me about 4 months to finish so I'm really glad to have it done. It's warm and yummy, YAY!  Grin
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Hooray for me Gloves on: January 12, 2004 05:15:15 PM

http://mlminspirations.com/patterns/HFMGloves/thumbnails/BothGloves2.jpg
So, a friend of mine begged me to make her fingerless gloves. I agreed but it's taken me nearly a year to find the motivation. There's something about working those pesky little fingers that drives me nuts! Finally they are done and I've posted the pattern on my website (http://www.mlminspirations.com/patterns/HFMGloves/HFMGloves.html) for anyone who wants a pair for themselves. It's a pretty basic glove pattern and if you have one you like better, you could certainly adapt the pattern easily since it's really the Regia yarn that makes them special.

9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Gift for a seamstress on: December 15, 2003 05:54:10 PM
So, I was trying to come up with an x-mas gift for a friend/aquaintance type. We're not super close, but we always exchange gifts. She's a very accomplished seamstress and does some professional costume design and I wanted to give her a gift that was thoughtful, but would fit within a tight budget.
In organizing the book collection I found some old vintage crochetted edging patterns and decided to make her a couple yards of handmade lace that she could dye and use as she likes. I'll try to get up pics eventually. The pattern is from the late 1930s and I was able to complete it over the weekend. Thought I'd share for any of you other procrastinators who might need a last minute idea.
