1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Post-Christmas project on: December 26, 2007 03:12:08 PM
A cape for my sons birthday, socks for someone else, hoodie for dh's birthday and then I still have unfinished presents that are too long to list.

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Acrylic Dishcloth? on: December 11, 2007 10:19:11 AM
my dh's grandma crochets acrylic dishcloths and she loves them. I have a couple and honestly we never use them. They just don't wash very well, feel icky when wet and are just too flimsy :/

Maybe you could recycle an old cotton sweater form a thrift store? any 100% cotton will work really.

Looks good girl! I have no free knitting time with the holidays being 4 weeks away or I'd be all over these challenges. January though....I'm so there again lol

I probably wont wear the shrug and possibly the dress I will buy for it again.

Ouch.

Knit a top. If it's basic enough, you can crank it out in 4 weeks. But what sort of top?

I did the cabled sweater (keridianna) in about a week, maybe less. The dress code is dressy casual so nothing fancy but...well hell I own jeans and basic T's LOL so no matter what I am going to end up having to purchase something. Maybe I'll just stick with the shrug/dress and make a reason to wear them again.

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: willy warmer pattern on: November 24, 2007 08:19:06 AM
I accidentally made one that was supposed to have just been a tube sock. So make a ribbed tube sock and when you get to the end use the star toe decrease and voila (although there is no sack warmer attached to it lol)
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / If you could only knit ONE item..... on: November 19, 2007 09:08:53 AM
I had this planned out, our Christmas party i was going to recon an old prom dress into a new snazzy shorter length party dress and knit a shrug to go with it. But we got word the dress code is dressy casual rather than semi-formal soooooooo no use for the recon dress.

Now my dilemma is I can either
A) buy a more casual style sleeveless dress to wear with shrug I was going to make
B) knit a top and forgo the shrug
C) knit a skirt and make a shawl, buy a top
D) knit a dress

But I only have a little more than 4 weeks, not a big stash and no idea if any of its worth it other than knowing I want to go in at least 1 thing I made (and would you wear more than 1 hand knit item? it seems kind of weird but I dunno)

Sorry, I had high hopes of getting pics (and possibly updating my poor, neglected craft blog) after work, but then on the way home I was rear-ended on the highway. By the time I got home, all I wanted to do was eat pizza and watch Mythbusters. Maybe tomorrow  Undecided
ouch I hope you are ok!

we just love a mystery challenge Smiley

My rainbow I am going to guesstimate only had like 90 yds on it, but it would make a great not shawl!

I am fairly certain lace weight is smaller than sock weight. Based on the gauge I am going to bet you do not need to double up the yarn.
