1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Circle Quilt on: October 28, 2012 10:33:23 PM
This is a pattern called Circle Play by Reynola Pakusich. Almost all of the large circles have an animal print. I worked on this, off and on, for over 3 years. This is the biggest quilt I have ever made - that is a king size bed!

2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Question about slow cooker on: February 04, 2011 08:42:50 PM
How tightly should the lid fit? The lid on mine doesn't fit well and a lot of steam escapes when it is cooking. Should I line the rim with foil?
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Favorite machine for quilting? on: May 04, 2010 10:12:10 PM
Hello there

I have about $500 saved for a new sewing machine, and I would like some feedback about machines that you all like.

I make pretty big quilts, so I need something with a lot of room under the arm. I have an old machine that has enough space to quilt in straight lines, but it is a real pain to stuff the entire quilt under the arm. Also I want to do free hand quilting.

I don't care about embroidery or making clothes so the machine doesn't need a bunch of software or attachments.

What brands or models can you recommend?

Thanks Smiley
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / What did I do wrong with my cast iron pan? on: October 11, 2009 06:42:11 PM
Help! I bought a pre-seasoned cast iron pan from Lodge. I have read that it is a good idea to season it again anyway, so I did. I washed it with a tiny bit of soap and water, then dried it really well on top of the stove. I rubbed a little vegetable oil all over it and put it in the oven, upside down, at 300 for 1 hour. Then I turned the stove off and let the pan cool in the oven.

Now the pan is sticky all over. What have I done and how do I fix it?

Thanks for any advice.
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / marbled fabric on: February 17, 2009 08:23:17 PM
Does anyone know a website that has any marbled fabric? I mean a print that looks like marbled paper inside the covers of old books. I am looking specifically for blues and greens.

6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / new gas convection range on: December 21, 2008 08:09:57 PM
I got a new gas convection range, and the manual is a little vague about the different settings. Can anyone tell me the difference between:
Bake, Broil, Convection Bake, Convection Roast, and Convection Convert?
7  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Grapefruit preserves recipes? on: November 30, 2008 08:19:01 PM
Does anyone have any good recipes for grapefruit jam, jelly, or preserves? Also, where do you get jars that can stand up to being boiled?

FYI there is some awesome Beatles fabric at equilter.com

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / split rings on: August 07, 2008 03:19:09 PM
Hello everyone

Does anyone know where I can find some decent split rings online? I need rings where each end of the wire is actually tapered and lays flat to the ring, instead of the ones where the wire is just cut. I also need them to remain tight after I force a rather large bead onto the ring. I have some cheap rings that end up pulled open a bit after I put a bead on. Any ideas?
10  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / European bedding sizes? on: August 06, 2007 11:10:23 AM
Does anyone know the sizes for bedding in Europe? I want to make a queen size quilt, but I don't think 90x108 would fit correctly. Specifically, it is going to Turkey. Any Turkish quilters out there?
