31  Re: International Snack Swap 6 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by loudxmouse on: April 04, 2013 08:48:58 PM
my husband put moonpies in my stocking for christmas Cheesy

I had to post more pix of my finn and jake because I am so chuffed with how they turned out.
I had to search for the perfect finn-shirt colored yarn and bought a HUGE skein, so I see more jakes and finns in my future.

SO glad you liked them, bambam.

The chips were kind of a laugh....i haven't even tried them yet, but I LOVE chicken and waffles together <3

I received from bambam! The package was MASSIVELY huge, and when I got it it looked as though the postal workers might have had a hard time carrying it due to its weight so decided to kick it around instead.
I could tell right away we were going to have some breakage, but only a few items were beyond saving.

poor package.

upon first opening: TIM TAMS! HUZZAH!
these are honeycomb, which I assume is kind of like violet crumble/seafoam/crunchie bar PLUS cookie. omg

uh oh...what is this?!
CHUTNEY EXPLOSION!!!! nooooessss!

The offending relish and a fuzzy friend that didn't make it out unscathed Sad

THE GOODS! after a bit of a wipe we have:
  • aussie afternoon tea (i got this last swap and I am almost out. LOVE it. The box protected the packets from stickiness)
  • tim tams
  • cadbury drinking cocoa and malted milk drink mix

more carnage, but it is making it like excavating exciting fossils from the relishy mess.

The chocos! My husband was super excited by the kit kats

yummy salt and vinegar chips!

more goodies:
  • beautiful yarn
  • TURKISH DELIGHT tim tams. I am obsessed.
  • dunkaroos (I vaguely remember having these here as a kid, but they don't sell them anymore)
  • malteeser bunny
  • pineapple mango delight
  • tropical jelly/jell-o(which states to not mix pineapple or paw paw fruit into the gelatin as it won't set properly. what is a paw paw?! I am intrigued)
  • tropical punch
  • a cute pen and a chiffon pouch

inside the pouch was two pair of beautiful earrings which cleaned up with a bit of a wash and quick dry with NO glitter loss. hooray!

There was another vegemite-type spread that I didn't snap a picture of, and a lemon butter that unfortunately was smashed into a million tiny, sticky pieces...But I am SO pleased with the spreads, elixers and sauces that decided to make the long journey. I have wanted to try HP sauce and vegemite for SO long. I hope I don't like it too much, because it is really expensive to buy a jar around here (if you can find one)
This is honestly the motherload.

bambam did a great job balancing tasty, naught treats and fun new things to try with a few "healthy" options and savory stuff to boot! There were a few granola bars that got cut up by broken glass as well as some sesame snaps, but thankfully the majority of the stuff made it unscathed.... except for this pack of tim tams seemed to have a tear, so I had to investigate....

uh oh.....

Look at this amazing hoop I got from Mthrasher!!!

pretty sure she is stalking me, because I have seen and loved this guy's art before but never pinned it or otherwise mentioned it. My friends have some prints like this and I never thought I could love anything more....turns out the embroidery blows them out of the water.

I received from texscrapper too! SO lovely. Thank you so much tex.
I grocery shop a lot on the way home from work in Seattle, where there is a plastic bag ban. I HATE how if I forget my canvas bag the bagger shoves everything into one paper bag. I had a cashier try to put ant bait next to my spinach once and I was not very pleased.
These will be SO perfect.

37  My Swappy Apartment Decor in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by loudxmouse on: December 31, 2012 01:00:15 PM
Mr. Mouse and I moved from a teesny, terrible apt into a much nice condo-style apartment. It took me about 2 months to get everything up on the walls, but on Christmas Eve I went into a frenzy and put a lot of it up. For how little I thought about everything I am pretty happy with how it looks, and even more happy with being able to display my swap-swag, family items and crafty stuff from over the years in a way that suits our new living arrangements.
I finally feel like I am in a home!

.:Our hall table:.
handmade paper-cut picture that says "home is whereve I'm with you" from one of my dear bridesmaids
wooden head
grandma's gardening hat, wedding photo, and folding ruler from her sewing room
Italian glass drink dispenser from our wedding (strange place for it, but I just really like it!)
kraken rum bottle
letterpressed name monogram
sequined purse
embroidered tablecloth from grandma

.:Our Living Room:.
Grandfather's WWII footlocker and german trunk
Handmade quilt from aunt-in-law (and other hand-me-down quilt)
letterpressed dragonforce poster

Itaglio Zombie Apocalypse print. Made by a friend in college.

Our colorful bookcase covered in swappy arumiguri

Our wedding topper (made by a friend)
Our gold ampersand
My felt rancor
swapped needle rolls and other knitting tools

My BooksofAdam.com custom drawing
felt stuffies and swappy Arumiguri
My "famous" Katamari Painting

.:Our Bedroom:.

Grandma's gold mirror
Blue mason jar
Terrarium (yet to be planted)
Vintage teal fan
Girl of the Limberlost
Doily Bunting from Shop the Swap

"Lady of perpetual Knitting" painting
Hand-me-down mirrors, frames and birds
wedding pictures, friend pictures, wool bow from grandmother's war-wedding suit (used as my something old and something blue)
Silkscreen "vintage ladies" hanging made by a friend

Wicker vanity with many swapped necklaces (need more hooks!)

.:Second Bedroom Geek-Nook:.
Felt Starwars Badges (in the back)
Mighty Boosh Howard Painting
Predator mask
R2D2 valentine
Jawa Art
My Neighbor Totoro Puzzle from Ghibli Museum
Firely Etching

My tiny hoopla wall!

my knitting 3D art

Thanks to everyone I have ever swapped with! You have made our little groundfloor apartment feel downright homey, full of love and care and all sorts of crafty good juju!

So after a series of patchwork attepmts to post pics here they finally are!

WhimsicallyObsessed chose me for her partner because of our common love of an uncommon band: mewithoutYou. Their last album was a departure from their normal, heavier sound and had a light, whimsical folky rock quality to it that we both really liked. One song on the album tells the fable of the "fox and the crow" and so she made me a bag based on that song"

here it is with the album cover from the album  "It's all crazy, it's all false, it's a dream, it's alright"
It is totally gorgeous and I am conflicted whether or not I should take it with me to their seattle concert on Monday in case I dance too hard and lose it!

the second item is based on the goofy britcom "the IT crowd"

In the episode Moss says "i came here to kick ass and drink milk....and I just finished my milk"
she wrote on her pinterest that she freehanded the drawing of moss. WOW. just wow.

I just started running again, so this might have to be my new running shirt! hahaha.

some lovely shinies

sorry this one is so blurry. it's hard to take a picture of one's own head!
I love the teal (favorite color!) and the funky zippers and swishy feathers. This will be a nice addition to my hair on days when I want to feel fancy but have to get up at 530.

This is a etched stein with ol' gregg from another strange, british, guilty pleasure show of mine. I love me some Mighty Boosh.

I drank my post-run protein shake out of it....mmmm creamy beige

coffee and tea themed treats. I am a fiend for BOTH.

THANK YOU WO! this was a blast, and I was so glad I didn't have to wait long for you goodies! They really made my day.

39  Re: Shop the Swap 62 **Discussion Thread** in New Swap Theme Ideas by loudxmouse on: May 12, 2012 11:02:52 AM
LL, my husband lived in a house that was a foreclosure and it was SO gross. 2" of grease on the tops of all the cupboards, BB gun holes in all the walls, basement coated in animal and human waste, smoke lines all up the walls and a grow-op in one of the basement walls. His friend who bought the house gutted it and all the guys helped fix it back up but then they are pretty dirty and nasty themselves so it was kind of perpetually nasty  Cheesy
Our farmhouse got snatched up, so we are still looking *sigh*

EDIT: took a break from online house hunting to try and clean up my grandpa's WWII footlocker and steamer case!!!!!

The newspaper was inside the steamer trunk and I am guessing it's just as old as the trunks themselves, which means they are muuuuusssty. The footlocker has a tray that sets into it that is still in perfect condition (classic for my grandpa. He was meticulous) . I hope I can get the smells out of the paper. The steamer has vertical compartments and has paper under the lid with a diagram all in german.
I am hoping they benefit from the sunshine and baking soda treatment. Any other suggestions?

40  Re: Felt Badge Swap Gallery!! (Send Out April 30) in The Swap Gallery by loudxmouse on: May 06, 2012 10:51:37 AM

Woo hoo!  I received from both my partners and finally had a sunny day, some free time, and something to take pictures with. Unfortunately I cannot find my good camera so have only my cell phone - partners, if you have better photos, PLEASE post them - because I love these and want to show them off!!!

So first from LoudXmouse I received a charming little umbrella badge!  I love umbrellas (parasols, parapluie, bumbershoots, brollies, whatever you call 'em!) and rain and rain drops (which is a good thing considering I live in the Pacific Northwest, eh?!) and Loud got it perfect! Unfortunately the cell phone won't focus on your badge, Loud! Argh!  I think she needlefelted part of it?

She added pretty little blue crystal beads as the raindrops - I love it! And the umbrella is nice and cheerful colored, which always makes me smile on a gray rainy winter day - seeing someone walking by with something colorful, instead of the usual plain black umbrella.

I had to put it away in a drawer as Phoebe Cat *LOVES* those little beads - I caught her chewing on them! EEK!  So your badge is going to either be a fridge magnet or a brooch, somewhere where she cannot chomp on it!  It would go great pinned to my long black winter coat ... I think that's the ticket! I love having little bright spots of color on me in the winter and it will be quite apt!

here is a clearer picture Cheesy
I used 80% wool 20% viscose felt, so it needle felted like a DREAM. I Have even had luck felting acrylic felt, but never had such good results (obviously) and never so much ease.
I am glad you like it! It was tons of fun to make. I was inspired by all the umbrellas I have seen walking by my cafe these days.
