21  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / portrait of my grandparents on: December 24, 2007 12:34:45 PM
The other day, I finally finished this cross-stitch portrait of my grandparents. It was taken from a portrait photo taken of them in May 1943.  I did it on 22 hardanger canvas w/ a 39 color palette.  The finished product is 10,500 stitches, and now I've got it all framed up to give them tomorrow.  They are both still alive-- she is 88 and he is almost 97. Smiley

(actual size is about 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches.)

22  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / David Sedaris! on: November 25, 2007 07:47:52 AM
I finished this portrait the other day...

Now I'm working on Patsy Cline, some dogs, and a draq queen from Cincinnati (different projects, not all in the same).
23  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / cross-stitch portrait of myself on: November 03, 2007 10:48:29 AM
so i decided to stitch myself (22 hardanger canvas, palette of 19 colors).  pattern was made so that from across the room, it looks like a black & white photo.  i'm going to use pictures of it for my own purposes (advertising, etc) but my mom's b'day is in 2 weeks and i'll frame up the finished product and send it to her as a gift.

i'm going to do an x-stitched piece w/ some of my favorite Latin phrases (i'm a dork, i know!  i embrace it) and i'm trying to find either:

a) a good image to turn into a pattern
b) a pattern for a roman column

anyone?

i have been looking for an easy hat pattern.  i want to make a beanie that will fit over my bald little head (shaved head in november--i'm a silly lesbian).  i've looked at lots of patterns online, but i'm desperate for help... anyone have some tips or a linky to a really really easy (or WELL EXPLAINED) pattern?

grazie...
