1  Re: IYP 14 gallery of fabulousness!! in The Swap Gallery by KCMonkey on: January 06, 2010 10:16:11 AM
Okay, I guess really late is better than never!  Here are the awesome gifts from RyverChyld!  There is also a boat load of pictures, but I wanted to share the Christmas JOY!
Pardon the hair and stuff, this is me opening them and NOBODY looks good on Christmas Morning.   Grin  The packages were numbered and I had already opened some earlier so here are the new ones.

In Order:

Package 5 - It's a monkey ice cream cozy!  Tried it out and love it.

Package 6 - A cute fabric bracelet.  It's pink and black and has the Eiffel Tower on it!  It fits perfect and is so soft I don't realize I have it on!

Package 8 - A MONKEY PURSE!!!!!  I love it!  I also thought the yellow rose of Texas fabric was a sweet touch since we are both misplaced Texans.  Plus it's pink and has MONKEYS on it!

Package 9 - An awesome fabric bowl! My mom didn't a picture of me all smiling and stuff, she just got one of me trying to round it out.  I did smile and am quite PROUD to have it.  It is just beautiful.

Awesome close up of the bowl after I rounded it out and starched it.  LOVE IT

Package 10 - A pie book with stories and old recipes.  I love the stories and I have to try to out some of those super old pie recipes.  I also totally dig the cover!
PIE ROCKS!

Package 11 - Nancy Drew Cookbook!  Too awesome.  It has little mysteries before each section.  The recipes are pretty easy and look like they make some good ol' basic foods that I kinda suck at making.  Also, I have SUPER gorgeous hair in this one.

Package 13 in SKULL PAPER - Killer Pies!  Number 13 - Skulls - Homicidal pies - This would make the PERFECT NOVEL!  Also it contains some awesome pie recipes from restaurants around the country and I have actually been to a couple of the places in it so trying out the recipes will be awesome!

Package 14 - Hello Kitty doing some Christmas shopping.  LOVE IT SOOOOOOO much!

On the tree

Package 15 - the card - RyverChyld is pretty funny!  There's a little drawing that says "No one understands me.  I"M AN ARTIST!"

And a bonus, she sent my husband Zombie Survival Flash Cards.

The cards are pretty funny and he didn't feel left out.  I told him I would
share my Hello Kitty with him, but he seemed to be happy with his cards.

Sorry for all the pics, but I had to give her full props for all the awesome stuff and she convinced me to put the "opening up" pics so please be kind.   Cheesy
Big round of Applause all around

Love the sweater purse!
I received from RyverChyld today!  I only opened a few of the packages because we are saving some for Christmas Day.  Prepare to be jealous.

First off, everything I opened today.

Notice the awesome skull and Hello Kitty wrapping paper!

Here is the most awesome stocking EVER.

PINK SKULLS!!!!!!!!  AND MONKEYS!!!!!  AND PINK!!!!!  AND SKULLS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I squealed with delight and did a happy jig.
The pretty star is a tree ornament.  It's glittery and kinda glows on my tree.

There were two other ornaments in the package.  A beautiful yo-yo tree in different greens, it looks so cool on my white tree.
The other is a stuffed heart with our names and anniversary embroidered on it.  I love them on the tree, but I think I'm going to hang them out all year.  They are so cute!

Finally, two very special presents for me

A very expertly colored monkey in a tree and a hand felted snowman made by the two best evil minions an Evil Genius could ask for.

I am all excited for Christmas so I can see what else she has for me!  I hope she likes her stuff as much as I like mine.
Thanks RyverChyld

3  Little Dead Riding Hood and the Killer Woodsman in Halloween Costumes by KCMonkey on: November 05, 2009 11:33:30 AM
I've never entered one of these before and there are some great entries, but I am super proud of how my costume turned out so I'm showing it off.

I have a sort of complicated camera and my friend had a little trouble with the focus, but you can get the general idea.

Here's Little Dead Riding Hood off to the cemetery to see Grandma.

But look!  Here's a friendly woodsman.  He seems so nice.

Oh NOOOOOOOO!  He's not so nice after all, but he sure looks like he's having a good time.

I made everything I am wearing, except the shirt.  I wish I had better pictures of the hatchet.  I bought them at the dollar store, then cut one of the blades off just before the handle.  I then hot glued it to the front of the shirt.  The petticoat is made from 3 massive layers of tulle and 2 layers of cut and dyed cotton.  The over skirt fabric came from Joann's just like that.  I actually squealed in the store when I found it!  The hood is made from the same material with this awesome skull cut velvet for the cape part.  I think the makeup was the most fun to do!  My husband was a good sport for dressing up so I kept his simple.  I stained the shirts and then pored blood on the tee shirt.  He already had the loverly ripped jeans.  Smiley  It took quite a while to make, but the parts can also be used for other costumes later.  Hope you guys like it!

Every one's pieces are so wonderful!  I received from bunnyface and dinkime this weekend and finally got a chance to get pictures.

Bunny and I did an Italian theme and she sent me this beautiful piece:

It's the Mole Antonelliana in Torino.  You see it through a 'window' cut from a description in Italian.  She also sent me the whole description, which is really cool.  It is antiqued and absolutely beautiful.  I have plans to frame them together.  Thanks so much!  This was super fun.

Then there's dinkimes.  It is sooooooo cute!

It's like it's straight from a Dick and Jane book.  The red hair, the striped shirt, too much.  It is also super-sealed. What did you use dinkime?  This is going to be great for jewelry!  On a side note, the note she sent with the piece said, "If you can't jump over life's hurdles, LIMBO under them."  That is my new motto. Cheesy

You guys did great jobs on the small pieces I sent.  I was a little new at this.  Smiley  This has been a blast.  Thanks so much

I received from beki710 yesterday!  I love everything so much.  Thank you!  Thank you!

First, this really cool necklace and cool button pin.  The necklace is made from real keyboard keys!  How cool is that!

Here is the matching earrings!

And these AMAZING earrings straight from my wist!  Wore them today and got so many compliments.

Then there is this earring holder.  I absolutely love it.

Check out this anklet!  It has cutlery on it.  I wore it today and got so many compliments.  I love it so much.  The brooches are so awesome.  They are both vintage and I can't decide which one I love more!

I love everything so much.  I feel so spoiled!  Thank you, Beki, for everything!

6  Re: Dishalicious Dishcloth/Washcloth Swap Rd. 9 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by KCMonkey on: September 09, 2009 08:01:45 PM
I got my dishcloths from imafundork yesterday!  The are so cute and match my kitchen perfectly.

The pattern is really cool.  The colors seem to weave in and out of each other.  Very pretty.  It's very soft and thick.  It'll get a lot of use.  Smiley

The perfect yellow and it has little tulips on it!  Isn't that cute?  Will not get used, will sit around and continue to be cute.  Smiley

Finally, a little extra, really little.  It's only 3 inches square!  It is so cute.  I said it was the love child of the other two cloths.  I love everything so much!  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

7  Re: PINK, Shiny, Girly Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by KCMonkey on: September 09, 2009 07:53:28 PM
I just received my package from reuse and it is Fab U. Lus!  I love everything so much.  Be prepared to be wowed!

First, the beautiful totes!  The one on the right has these little embroidered swirlies all over it!  Love it.  Sorry Ryverchyld, I think I have a new bag right now.  The one on the left is an extra, she didn't make it , but she found it, bought it, and sent it so I now love her!

The pile o' goodies!  Cute little bobby pins with rhinestone flowers on them, little pastel bubble magnets, a cute pink and white notepad and a PINK BUTTERFLY COOKIE CUTTER!  I am so in love with this right now.  And 2, count 'em 2, little bags.  The one in the back has makeup and stuff on it and it's lined with vinyl so the inside doesn't get makeup on it!  Smiley  The other one is cute little flowers on it and little heart buttons!  It looks very cute in my new pink tote.

Then, an adorable patchwork skirt.  It is so cute and very soft.  The picture doesn't do it justice, it's this beautiful dusty rose and deep purple.  Very modern prairie girl.  I love it!

And finally, art!  I saw her needle felted tree and hinted that I thought it was totally awesome and how cool one of those would be and so she made me one!!!!!!!  The colors are gorgeous.  The orange just glows and the flower is so dainty.  It looks like a flower floating on water.  It was still a little rolled up from transport so I couldn't get a great picture, but I'm going to mount and frame it so nothing will happen to it.

So there you have it, the best package of the swap.  I love everything so much.  Thank you for making this such a fun swap!  I only hope you like your stuff as much as I like mine

8  Re: Crafty Crayola Craft Swap Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by KCMonkey on: September 03, 2009 02:22:50 PM
I love that crayon fabric mellermann86, but not as much as I love the awesome package our lovely organizer slingmomma sent me!

First, the Crayola goodies.  There's hand made crayons in a blue Crayola tin, a notepad, pipsqueaks, window crayons (soooooo cool), model magic, and a 64 pack of the good old originals!

Next, she hand dyed wool yarn!  She said is didn't come out "red enough" but not red enough = pink and I love pink, too.

A really cute neck warmer!  These are very helpful in the desert when it's chilly, but not cold enough for a coat.  I have a lot of scarves, but this is cooler!

And finally, a crayon apron!  Isn't that fabric just the best!  It's so fun.  You can't really see in the picture, but it has little pockets all around the bottom for crayons.

I love everything so much!  Thank you Thank you Thank you  Smiley

9  My very first Altered Puzzle Pieces! in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by KCMonkey on: August 15, 2009 10:08:29 AM
I used a 25 piece kids puzzle from the dollar store.  That place is the best to find stuff to mess around with!  I used scrapbook paper and acrylic paint for the base then just cut and glued until I was as sticky as the pieces.  Man do I love crafts that make a big ol' mess!  They all still need to be sealed, but I could wait to get them up!

This one I think is my favorite.  It says delightful and has tiny little pencil drawn dragonflies on it.

This one is painted and stamped.   It says dainty in size.  And those are leaves not a pac-man.   Grin

I layered paper on this one, then drew on it and put some glitter on it for good measure.  Everything is better with glitter.

The black and white one.  I'm not really sure I like this one very much.  The paper that is on the upper right corner is actually a brick wall with graffiti on it, but when I glued it down you couldn't tell what it was anymore.  Don't quite know how to really fix it.

So there they are.  And it is safe to say that I am now totally addicted.  I had to force myself to put the stuff away and work on a swap!
I'd love to hear what people think and any ideas on that black and white one would be awesome.   Cheesy

10  Quote Wall Hanger in Completed Projects by KCMonkey on: August 15, 2009 09:56:04 AM
I made this for a swap a while back and just never posted it.

It's a little wall hanger with interchangeable quotes.

I really like the way it came out.  I machine embroidered the front and quilted it.  I used rickrack for the hanger and just stitched on one side of a hook and eye.  The back has a little pocket to keep the quotes in and they are just hole punched so she could add more quotes if she wanted to.
Here are all the quotes I made.

I think my favorite quote is the mixed martial arts one.
I'd love to hear what people think.  I may make another one for myself!
