1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Cosplay Swap on: December 11, 2012 05:33:23 PM
Would anyone be interested (after the holidays, obviously) in doing a Cosplay swap? You give a list of some characters you might like to do/some items you'd want for them and we swap stuff? I'm thinking this would be a one item type swap (a medium or large) and you can include extras if you want (some people do). I could probably organize it. I'd want to start in early Januaryish cause I want to cosplay for Katsucon in early Feb. Anyone interested?
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Star Wars Swap (EU included) on: October 21, 2012 01:14:02 PM
Soooo anyone up for a Star Wars swap starting probably after the holidays? I can probably organize; I just want to gauge interest. I've recently gotten into the Star Wars extended universe novels (X Wing, Shadows, Bakura; fixing to start Courtship) and I'm kind of obsessive. As it happens, I like to craft my obsessions. So. Who'd be up for a Star Wars swap?
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / X Files Swap!? on: May 04, 2012 05:00:33 PM
I'm currently watching the X Files for the first time. I'm currently in season eight and the depth of my love for this show knows no bounds. I like to cement my love of fandoms by crafting for them. Swap!

I'm willing to organize but I'll need a co-org. If you're interested in the swap or being the co-org, let me know! I'll put up a post soonishly since I know I'll have watched everything by the time the partnering happens.

Come back to the 90s with me, people. You know you want to believe.
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Post Secret 15 Gallery on: December 30, 2011 05:24:59 PM
Here's the gallery! Share your secrets. Please remember one secret per picture and don't comment in the same post as a secret. Please type any text below your image so those with vision issues can see them all.

PostSecret is a website located at http://www.postsecret.blogspot.com
The idea behind it is to create a postcard, using images, illustrations, paintings, etc., and write or type a secret on it that you want to anonymously share with the world.

The Craftster twist is that your cards need to be creative in addition to being sent to members of our little group. Remember there is no way to guarantee this is 100% anonymous because some people may be able to trace a card back (if they are super super sleuthy!), if youd like to protect yourself as much as possible I recommend removing your location from your Craftster profile and temporarily removing your links as well (etsy, Myspace, blogs, etc.). Of course you dont have to do this!

You will be sending 5 cards. You will be put in a group of six and you will send each of the other people in your group a post card. In turn, you will receive five secrets from the rest of your group. There will be six groups. If anyone wants to co-org, do pm me.

The Anatomy of a Postcard

Your postcard should include at least one image and your secret, which should be written/typed out on the front of the card.  Make your cards however you like-- photographs, collage, drawing, painting--or buy postcards and embellish them with your secrets.

You can write a note to the recipient on the back of the card, but that's optional.

Your postcards can all be based around the same secret, or all different.  If you use the same secret for multiple cards, the visual part of the card must be different and you must phrase your secret differently. Ideally, you should really use 5 different secrets.

Questionable Content?

Some secrets are not G-rated.  I don't want to restrict anyone's freedom of expression, but please realize some people may not want to be exposed to content they may find offensive.

SENDING ANY KIND OF PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIAL WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.  This is a rule set for all swaps on Craftster.  Basically, if you would need ID to buy it, don't put it on your postcard.

Privacy
This swap is anonymous; you won't know which postcard is coming from which Craftster member.  However, the system isn't perfect. In this swap you will receive a code (like G6, for example and it may be different once your code is assigned) and you will put that assigned code on the bottom left-hand corner of the backside of your postcard (where you would put the address). Please put this on the back of your card, even if it's in an envelope.

If it would ruin your life (or someone else's life) if a fellow Craftster did some Internet detective work and figured out which secret was yours, you probably shouldn't be putting it on a postcard for the world to see.  This isn't the place to admit you committed a felony or anything.

And if you are one of those people who can't possibly live without doing the detective work, please keep that information to yourself and don't ruin a fun swap for the rest of us.

If you're really worried about someone matching up the postmark on the card with your name, you could send your postcards from a town near yours, from your work, etc.

Or if you feel like being super-sneaky, you can have your cards postmarked at the North Pole:
http://www.christmaslettertips.com/christmas_postmarks.htm

Shipping

There are no DC numbers for this swap, since they cannot be put on a postcard. Please take a photograph of your five stamped and addressed envelopes and send it to me (ifallthraindrops) as proof of sent. Please keep the photograph in case anything gets lost.

You must be willing to ship internationally. If you really don't want to, let me know and I'll try to get around it, probably by making groups country specific-- US, Canada, UK, Australia, etc.

You may mail your cards in envelopes if you want them to be a little more protected.

Absolutely do not forget your code!

Receiving

Half of the fun of this swap is looking over the gallery daily to see all the secrets that have been sent. Please make sure that you have access to a scanner or camera so that you can share the postcards with the rest of us. Pictures absolutely must be posted. We need to be able to see postcards that have been received.

As soon as you do receive you need to PM ifallthraindrops with the code so I can check it off. You may wait until you receive all five if you like and pm me that fact.

Feedback

Okay, here is the FEEDBACK criteria
1. sent proof of sending
2. have received all five cards and posted them in the gallery
3. all five cards you sent have been received.

There will be a cut off date where, if lost in the mail, we'll use the proof of sending for the feedback.

Sending Late

If something happens that prevents you from sending your cards on time, that's OK--life happens!  Just PM me before the deadline, and e-mail your receipt when you send.  If you don't ship by the deadline and I haven't heard from you, I will be forced to assume you're not sending and will have to leave negative feedback until you've sent (and can prove it).

Flaking

Of course we don't want flakers! We can (and will!) be keeping track of all secrets sent by the codes you will be putting on them. If you forget a code, we cannot just accept your word for it. You absolutely must remember to put your code on it or have a picture of your secret before you sent so we can match to the rec'd secret... not the ideal way to make sure you sent, but in a crisis it'll work!

Pictures

When posting your received secrets in photos, you must photograph each one individually - so that means no "group shots." A group shot has 2 or more cards in the photo. Because trying to fit 2+ cards into the picture is hard, it makes it near impossible to get a good representation of the cards. Remember, this is first and foremost a craft forum and a craft based swap. Your cards should be 100% crafty with effort noticeable and the pictures should show the hard work the secret-sender put into it (as well as their secret) since they are not able to post their pictures themselves. Please type out unclear wording below the picture so we can see what it says.

Comments in the Gallery

Comments will be allowed.
However, when posting the pictures of the secrets you receive you have to hold your comments for a separate post. So that means: No comments in any posts with pictures. This is to make it easier for members not wishing to read any comments to search with the "View Images Only" option. Yes, you can post your pictures and immediately post again with your comments to your own post.

*Note: You will not receive Negative feedback for not following the above rules, however it will be reflected in the comments of your feedback that you did not follow the directions of the swap when asked.

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Stargate Swap on: August 11, 2011 04:57:54 PM
Sooo i just finished watching SG1 and SGA and am currently watching through SGU. Who wants to do a Stargate swap?!? I'd even be willing to organize provided I had a dedicated co-organizer.

I'm thinking maybe a 5-point swap starting soonishly (cause i want to make Stargate things already!). All three shows and all movies are fair game (though I have a desperate love for SGA). Any takers? If I find a co-org and some interested people, I can set it up this weekend/week. : ) : )
7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / They Might Be Giants Embroidery on: February 15, 2011 01:15:23 PM
I embroidered a thing! My boyfriend loves the song "Birdhouse in Your Soul" by They Might Be Giants, so for Valentine's Day, I embroidered and framed a bit from the song for him:

(not actually crooked, just the photo)

I'm very pleased with it. : ) It's all backstitch cause I'm a novice at embroidery and that's mostly what I know how to do. The font is called "Little Days" and can be found on dafont.com.
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Post Secret... 12, I think? on: May 14, 2010 02:30:32 PM
I have some secrets, and I would love a Post Secret swap. I don't want to organize cause I'm going out of town in three weeks, but if someone would be up for it (starting sign ups very soon, if possible), I could maybe co-org. I'd like to do five secrets (I don't think I've got ten in me), but if popular opinion wants ten, I'd still be up for it.

Here's a link to round ten so people unfamiliar with Post Secret swaps can see what I mean:

So how about it?
