wow this is sooooo cool Smiley I totally did a google search the artist, Peter Max...way cool stuff!!

So I totally love what you did but my only feedback would be to paint the rest of the wood parts over, doesnt have to be more art (I can tell that one shelf would be hard to get further into the back) BUT I think that just even having some colors to cover the wood would really make it looks oodles better.

18  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Hoop House and raised bed construction- pic heavy!! on: April 19, 2009 10:27:08 AM
WOW great website link Smiley I was of the schooling like the previous posters that the beds had to be deeper....good info.

My biggest bummer about growing food of any type is that we live on this old oak tree lined street and my back yard get like ZERO sunlight. In Portland a lot of people put their gardens in the front yard, and its all very cute....BUT now that I am back living in CA that would just not fly Sad which I think is a real bummer, I hate having a front lawn, its so stupid and wasteful....it would be the perfect place for a raised garden bed!!

Sorry, didn't mean to steal the thread with my own rant Kiss

looks super Smiley however, I am not sure putting down plastic is a good idea. If you want to prevent weeds you should put down damp newspaper or something that your roots can grow though BUT wont let in weeds. Did you read in a garden book where they suggested plastic? I am not an expert gardener BUT I did just attend a workshop on raised beds and they did NOT mention anything about putting down plastic. In my "limited" garden knowledge I would not think it would be a good idea.
