11  Re: DIY Craft Kit Round 13 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Bugaboo1 on: November 14, 2010 01:14:44 PM
I received Friday my kits from Lydiaharper and Stellou I just got home so late I didn't even have the energy to open and wanted to wait until I could play

From Lydia I receive a moma cloth kit

She sent absolutely everything needed including scissors, pins and thread. I am excited to try this out. I do have to share I live in a house full of males who took one look and just went collectively "I'm not asking!"

From Stellou I received a shuttle tatting kit

She sent small samples of her work so I can practice and see if I am doing this right and the cutest tatting to go pouch you see all the thread and shuttles in. Then percys pigs that another swapper turned me on to woohoo

I am very excited to get started with both of these.

Thanks so much ladies!

12  Re: Autumn's Fall Scarf Swap GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by Bugaboo1 on: November 08, 2009 05:28:44 PM
Finally I have pictures to post!

This is what I received from MiLady

The scarf is beautiful, grey and white with a hint of sparkle. She created matching fingerless mitts with button backs and added in 2 skeins of yarn for me to make what I please.

Then she also sent me a pair of super soft slippers socks that now adorn my feet, I was waiting for the pics to be taken to put them on, a package of really cute tissues for my purse, a package of percy pigs which no we can't get in the US and they are really good, family has already scarfed them down. Then as an added bonus a little spoon to take to work to stir my coffee with.

I loved getting to know her so much during this swap and because she's a very busy girl as well I said I would post what I had my husband take pics of before they were sent.

This is most of what I sent:

and the scarf alone

I spun up about 600 yards of alpaca/merino to create the scarf, mitts and bag and then another 140 yrs of an alpaca/llama blend to send with the package. I added in a bit of halloween candy, a scarf making kit and little rhinestone embellishment.

14  Fun Socks and a few other pairs in Knitting: Completed Projects by Bugaboo1 on: July 18, 2008 04:48:26 AM
I had been eying this pattern for awhile and finally decided to cast on. I used less then 1 skein of Noro Kureyon sock yarn, which I won't be purchasing again.

I made quiet a few modifications to the original pattern. It's listed for a longer foot then my US sized 7.5-8 and I still had to lengthen the foot, changed when I did decreases, changed the heel and toe as well as the under foot. If you have ravelry I have notes on there as to what I changed how and where.

Details:
Cast on: late evening July 9th
Cast off: early am July 18th
Yarn: Noro Kureyon Sock
Colorway: s180
needle size: 2.25mm (us size 1)
yardage: 346 yards
fits size: us woman size 8

You can see a shadow on the top as they are a little large around the calf and ankle and if I made this pattern again I would modify it further.

These are a modular sock very structured when finished and there isn't a lot of give so they appear larger then they are when off the foot.

And just for fun the original skein to show the colors on the skein and how they came out on the sock as I didn't work the colors on purpose to be each diamond, I just followed the pattern and it happened due to the long color repeats in Noro.

Let me know what you think

Then here are 2 other pair I finished off in the past couple of weeks

For my husband
Details:
Cast on: June 10th
Cast off: June 16th
Yarn: Panda Silk
needle size: 3.25mm (us size 3)
yardage: 230 yards
fits size: us mens size 11

And these I started a long long time ago and never finished so picked back up sock #1 and finished off sock #2 a week later.

Cast on: October 2007
recast on: July 2nd
Cast off: July 8th
Yarn: Panda Cotton
needle size: 2.75mm (us size 2)
yardage: 340 yards
fits size: us womans size 8

15  The Perfect Sock Bag ~image heavy~ in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Bugaboo1 on: June 23, 2008 06:10:53 PM
So I knit amongst other things and am always looking for the perfect project bags for what ever I am making. If anyone is involved in SOS they know a lot of people are making socks right now. I was too late for sign ups so I'm just a supporter (and teaser) so made myself this!

[img width=500  there's a lot more info on my blog about it all and more pics. I'm in love with it though and glad it's finished!

17  First Hand Spun in Spinning: Completed Projects by Bugaboo1 on: June 14, 2008 03:05:08 PM
We went to a local Spin In today and one of the fin sheep owners taught my youngest son (11) how to spin on a drop spindle in about 15 minutes. More details are on my blog if interested but he made a little over 5 yards of plyed fin wool yarn that came out very nice for a new spinner that had never even lifted a spindle before this.

Here's his first official FO

Then he came home and spun some more which he is now waiting to ply with itself how she showed him

You can go see his free goodies he got today on my blog and pictures of the animals that were like the ones the roving came from.

18  Re: My Nolita knock-off bag~ Now with Tut in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Bugaboo1 on: June 14, 2008 03:00:42 PM
And another I made yesterday for my daughter. She doesn't knit just likes the bag so instead of giving her the needle pocket I inserted a pocket on the front inside as well.

she picked out the material it wasn't my choice. Just a tea stained cotton from Joann's.

has the classc V shape to it when closed

notice no long side pocket on the opening flap but the long one on the back interior I kept for her

then inserted another on the front interior so she has 2 large pockets. I actually like it there as well so may make myself a new one with all 3 pockets!

here was another I made for the wonderful Huff in the make a friend swap!

It was patio canvas that worked out very nice for this bag

these were both in progress but you can see how it stands up well on it's own with a cotton calico interior and the canvas exterior. I did lengthen the handles a bit on hers because I had the extra fabric. Now I'm in the process of a third for my daughter but i'm going to modify it a bit as she isn't a knitter she just likes the bag.
