11  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 21 ENTRIES / CLUE cigar box purse! (img. heavy) on: October 01, 2007 06:28:43 PM
I love the game Clue!

I had an old version of CLUE hanging out in the garage. I decided to make a cigar box purse out of it. I took the board and peeled all the rooms and tiles off of it and gathered all the other pieces.

I then started decopaging them to the cigar box.

I gold leafed the edges, distressed it a bit, and added the hardware. I then decopaged the inside of the lid, lined the bottom with felt and added the Top Secret Envelope and a small mirror.

I added the characters to the sides and bottom. I attached the place markers on the bottom for the purses feet. I made the handle out of wood beads and dice and the final touch was the charms I made from the weapons and hung from the handle.

I incorporated at least one of every piece of the game into this purse. I hope you like it!
12  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Pin-up Jewelry Box on: September 11, 2007 06:03:42 AM
I made this out of a cigar box. I removed all the hardware then painted it black. I then decoupaged the leopard paper around it and added the fur. I lined it with leopard fabric and added a mirror and new hardware. I LOVE this box!

14  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / He's Gonna Get You! on: September 11, 2007 05:49:36 AM
I LOVE Horror Movies and have a friend who's wife is obsessed with Michael Meyers. So I decided to break out my cigar boxes and make her this nifty purse. I was so tempted to keep it for myself! I decoupaged the images on the front and lined it in black velvet. She loved it!

15  COOKING / Dessert / I can too make a cake!!!!!! on: September 10, 2007 06:47:31 AM
My husband always laughs at me and says I can make anything in the world except cakes, all because I made one for him once that said "congrulations". Plus, they would somehow always implode or fall over. I was driven to prove him wrong! So after much research, countless trips to the craft store, and 37 million curse words, here is my Mad Hatter cake. I used box cake mix (6 of them!) in vanilla and strawberry, but made the buttercream and fondant myself. There is a great tute for marshmallow fondant here:

It is super easy, super cheap and is way more pliable that store bought junk!

This cake weighed a whopping 16lbs! But was delicious!

17  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Yay for tea! (caution, cozie alert) on: July 29, 2007 02:34:13 PM
I know this is totally old fashioned, but I love tea and decided to make a cozy for my favorite tea pot. I did it without a pattern and just winged the whole thing. I used Red Heart Soft Yarn and a K hook. It is all in doubles and singles on the round with a cute little flower and button. Yay for warm tea!

18  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crochet Felted Purses, I just winged it and it came out pretty good! on: July 13, 2007 09:33:20 PM
I have never felted before. I was intrigued by how you can make something so big and loose and then magically it becomes small with nothing but hot water! I crotched the first bag with some blue Moda Dea I found at a discount store for a $1 a skien. It was only 90% wool but thought I would try it. It was the best one I made! Just a rectangle of SC I joined together, then added a flap with a button hole and a strap with D rings. I am really bad about using any sort of patterns, I just make this crap up as I go along!

The next one I made was with Patons Wool. This pretty variegated rose color, it almost came out striped. On the top I add some fun fur of some sort before I felted it, then attached the handles with ribbon.
19  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / First Crochet Post for an ADD crocheter, I finally finished something! on: July 13, 2007 07:28:56 PM
I never finish any crochet project. Sam says I have crochet ADD. I actually finished these cute slippers in 24 hours! That is a record for me! No pattern, just double crochet with cute star buttons! Thanks!

20  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Winged Skull Bangle Bracelet, and Tiny Coffee Time! on: July 13, 2007 07:21:48 PM
Here I made a cute Poly winged skull bangle bracelet. I sculpted the winged skull then pressed it into a wire bangle. I then added pink cabs for the eyes! I LOVE it!

And of course, tiny food....coffee time!!
