1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First Ever Socks! on: July 19, 2008 09:08:25 PM
So, they're far from perfect, but I'm pretty proud of these. It's the first time I knit in the round, first time I used a decrease that wasn't knit-two-together, and well, first time knit something that wasn't a square or rectangle. (I'm normally a crocheter) They're soft, cuddly and warm, great for poking around my house.

I used Claudia Hand Paints in "lipstick" on size 3 DPNS. The Pattern is Sweet Feet from Simply Knitting... it's a brittish magazine that's pretty popular with my knitting group. I forget what month it came in tho...

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Summery Stripey Pillowcase Purse! (bit pic heavy) on: April 04, 2008 10:39:15 AM
So, we got a new roommate last weekend, and as he was moving, he went through some of his old stuff, and I got a big pile of things to cut up and make into something else!  Grin These wonderful striped pillowcases were in the pile, and as we had an unsually long and cold winter here, I was very excited about anything that said warmer weather to me, so I made myself a new bag!

This is also a bag of many firsts... I have used the pattern before, but I have never attempted to match stripes, nor have I ever tried to do inside pockets! I am very excited about the results, it's not perfect, but it's darn close, and that's good enough for me!  Grin

Oh! I used a pattern, but it's at home and I can't seem to find it on-line!  Roll Eyes I will have to look when I get there Sunday night, then I'll let you know!

The whole thing:

Stripe-matching awesomeness!

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Mobius Doggie Bow on: March 09, 2008 09:41:40 AM
So, I was bored yesterday, and made this:

Mr. Capone here looks rather annoyed, I think it's partly becase of the large pink bow. It's actually a gift for his mother, my bosses's girl dog. Wink

I made it useing a smaller verison of the mobius scarf in "Quick Stuff to Sew" magazine. My printer was being a jerk, so I just traced a larger verison of the pattern... I can't tell you how much I really enlarged it. Capone's neck it about 10 or 11 inches, if that helps. Wink
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Red & White tulip purse on: February 24, 2008 12:41:04 PM
Sorry for the bad pics... It's my cell phone camera and no sunlight.  Embarrassed

I used the tute in the pleated pouch "Quick Stuff to Sew" magazine. It was pretty simple. Smiley It looks a bit funny in the pics, there isn't anything in it yet.
I added a strap so I don't have to hold onto it all the time, but I think I may make that part a little shorter.

(Oh! And thanks to my SO's little brother's friend for modeling!)
9  Texas / Texas: Southeast / Making a trip to Houston... on: February 19, 2008 09:13:43 AM
...and I need some ideas for places to go there! My step-mother has a conference in Houston the 25th-28th, and I'm tagging along. She says the conference stuff will finish up around 5 (maybe earlier), so I need to find things to do after that. I would love to find some great quilt or yarn shops to visit... She's an avid quilter and I crochet and knit.

Any other suggesstions (places to eat, things to see... I'm also a big history geek) would be very much appreciated!  Grin Thanks in advance!
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / My old shirt, Sam's new shirt. (pic heavy...) Link to Tutorial on: July 24, 2007 11:31:24 PM
Hi y'all! I just finished this shirt for my Basset Hound. (I was bored watching TV, never mind it's 1:30 am) It's really hard to find clothes in Sammy's size, but he just loves to get dressed up! (you really should see him strut his stuff!)

Anyways, I didn't wear this shirt anymore, so I decided to make it into one for him. It started off as just a long-sleeved baseball type shirt, the picture was on the front.

(Oh, and I am planning of shortening the sleeves a bit more.)

(He's a wonderful model, as you can see.)

Here's a close-up of the image on the shirt:

Hope you enjoy! It's really easy to make (providing you have a cooperative poochie), and very handy for larger breeds. I would assume it would work alright for smaller dogs too, so long as you used smaller shirts. The one I used was a Large, Sam is about 60 pounds and has a 24" chest. I only had to remove about 2 inches of fabric for him, but it has a loose comfy fit. (He doesn't really move around too much... like I said, Basset hound...  Wink)

Okee! I went ahead and made a tute! It's got lots of pictures, so I just posted it on my blog. You can find it here:
