1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Summer design: Pintuck T-shirt on: May 20, 2008 02:26:19 PM

Hi. Just thought I would share a summer knit of my own design- a t-shirt in bamboo. It's wonderfully soft and drapey and makes a great refined t-shirt. I anticipate wearing it lots when the weather finally gets a bit warmer in the UK.

I've knit a couple of things in bamboo yarn so far, and I really love the stuff. It's never disappointed me.

Details and pattern available on the blog. (The pattern was submitted to and rejected by Knitty, so the abbreviations are from Knitty's style sheet.)
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Why do we like certain patterns? on: September 18, 2007 03:50:00 AM
I really, really want to understand why people like certain patterns and not others. And I figure the best way would be to ask you guys!

I noticed very positive reactions to the Mr Greenjeans pattern in the latest Knitty. So, for this example, I'd love if you guys would say why you liked it. Or not.

(Sorry, does this sound like homework?)

Thanks. I'm really just interested in how people's tastes and brains work. I have the same questions and interest whenever I look at fashion magazines, too.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Bamboo lace shell *updated with pattern link* on: August 25, 2007 07:00:28 AM
Just finished this. It was a good lesson on listening to what the yarn wants to be. I tried to make it into a halter top- it wasn't having any of it. But this is the perfect use for it.

I love this yarn! It's 100% bamboo and is gorgeously soft and wonderfully drapey. If I had a job, I'd go out and buy some more right now.

More information on the blog.

Thanks for looking.

*UPDATE*- link to pattern and such down on the thread.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Silk Garden scoop neck pullover on: July 28, 2007 04:55:00 AM
Just finished!

I'm happy with the way it came out. It was my first steeking project, and there were a few times when I didn't dare breathe during the cutting. Also, the Silk Garden grew a bit more than I was expecting (swatches lie!) so it fits just *slightly* looser than I planned, but little enough that it was no big deal.

Not sure I would use Silk Garden again, but I would definitely try more of the single colour Noro yarns, I think. The colours were lovely- I just didn't like not being able to control what came next!

Thanks for looking.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Opinions, thoughts, criticism! *pattern now available* on: July 13, 2007 06:09:12 AM
I've just finished knitting and writing up a pattern for a summer halter top, and my LYS has very kindly offered to put it up on their website for download- it should be available in a few days. There are more pictures and info on my blog, but here's a picture of the front of the halter:

It's my first time writing a pattern and seeing if there'll be interest in something I've designed. A lot of people here have been very good about constructive criticism of patterns offered on the web, so I'd like to ask for that criticism of this top.

With a pattern like this, what are your first thoughts on it? What would you want the pattern to include? Would you be interested in knitting it at all? I love that people on Craftster are very supportive of each other, but don't worry about being "nice" here. I just want some constructive feedback.

Thanks muchly!

(I do apologize if it sounds like I'm asking you to do homework!)
