I finally made a traditional sock monkey which gave me the courage to chop up a favorite worn and ragged striped shirt.  I guess I have to come up with a name...

  I wanted to make a rug out of old junky t-shirts, but I am waaay too lazy to make it by poking it through holes of latch hook rug canvas like this one http://members.cox.net/dtabor1/White%20Prodded%20Rug.htm.  So I sewed strips about 1"x5" onto regular canvas hemmed about 14" x 22"  that I had drawn pencil lines (1" apart) on. This was so easy and much faster. I should probably put something under so it isn't slippery.

Totally green newbie here hopefully can figure this out.  This was so fun. Made from junk food cardboard boxes and packing tape.
