1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Great Gatsby Wedding, Ideas? on: May 31, 2005 05:16:51 PM
I just explored this weddings forum for the first time, and I just had to post my ideas for my wedding next June. We got engaged a month ago, and I'm just in the very beginning stages of coming up with ideas. We have a year, so I'd like to try and make as much of the stuff ourselves as we can.  Any ideas would be much appreciated.

My inspiration comes from my engagement ring which originally belonged to my great grandmother, and was worn by my grandmother and mother. The ring is very reminiscent of the 1920's and 30's, which makes me think of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby, Jazz, flapper girls, short dresses, long necklaces, you get the idea? We're not looking for a traditional wedding (we're having the ceremony and reception at the same place, and right now I'm looking at a place called The Solarium, which appropriately enough was built sometime in the 1920's).

Any ideas of crafty-vintagey goodness I might be able extract from this theme? Big thanks in advance!

Oh, I do have one big idea, but my aunt already offered to make the cake, and  I think she might faint when I explain that I would like it in the shape of a Victola!
