I am so glad that they arrived and that you like them. Grin I have only recently gotten back into my cross stitch and it was my first attempt at beading.
1473  U.K. AND IRELAND / ENGLAND / Re: US to UK English translation! Aaaaarrghhhh! on: September 07, 2007 04:28:01 PM

I'm in Australia, but my parents are English. So I have ended-up with a bit of a mixed vocab. We also have regional differences between states.

South Aust   --  Translation
Dungarees    --   trousers with bib and brace
Handbag   --  womens bag whether over shoulder or clutch
Purse   --   womens equivalent of a wallet
Soft drink   --   fizzy, pop, soda
Pram/stroller   --  push chair, baby carriage
Jocks   --  boys underwear
Undies   --   girls underwear
Lemonade   --   a soft drink not made with lemons
Lollipop   --   a lolly on a stick, traditionally a boiled sweet but now anything is possible.
Bugger   --  not an expletive, just a term used for emphasis
Bloody   --  same as above
Fag  --  a derogatory term for a homosexual (sucking on a fag is not really something you would go up and say to people here in general).

Ideas for presents:-
some of the cool goth type chokers that have been on the forum
A stenciled t-shirt or goth mini with her favourite band/singer on it.
A cool bag with a goth design to carry her stuff around in.

Ideas for the pinata:- Quick black velvet ribbon chokers, temporary tattoos of spiders, dragon, etc.

Hope these help
1475  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: My Whimsical Summer on: August 31, 2007 04:01:25 PM
The first and the last gave me pleasant flashbacks to my teen years in the 80's. They reminded me of the decorated combs I used to wear in my hair.  Cheesy

My son loved this. It reminded him of one of his favourite books, "What Bumasaur Is That?" by Andy Griffiths.
1477  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Shrinky Dinks in Australia? on: August 30, 2007 06:40:12 AM
Some computer shops carry them along with their T-shirt printing sets. The brand I got in SA was Celcast Ink Jet Shrink Film. They cost me $12.99 for 5 sheets.
