Gorgeous!  Wow.  I love it!  You friend really missed out!  I can't imagine that whatever she found to wear was half as awesome as what you made for her.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Burda 04/10 #145 - Dress for me on: May 14, 2010 06:40:56 PM
Well good job at a Burda pattern!  There instructions always seem difficult to me.  Which you wouldn't know with how many of their patterns I attempt.  And I've also noticed some superfluous zippers in a few of their dresses.  I recently made one that was peasant style, with a tie around the middle and a zipper down the back.  Really?  Are people too lazy to undo the tie to get out of the dress? Pfft, Burda, you confound me.
Neat fabric!  And even if the neck was messed up, I like the look of the modesty panel.  Looks like you planned it Smiley
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: my first clothing line! (picture explosion) on: May 11, 2010 02:20:51 PM
LOVE!  I have hit 'This Rocks' maybe twice in my years on Craftster, but if I could hit it 50 times for this post I would Smiley  All the outfits are absolutely gorgeous.  The fabrics are beautiful and your designs are stunning and very original.  I love it all!!  Too cute Smiley
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Alice in Wonderland American Girl Costume! on: May 09, 2010 03:22:51 PM
Thanks!  I thought the idea of a ricrac skirt was brilliant Smiley  Awesome designer for that movie!
8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Serger thread not catching?? on: May 09, 2010 03:20:49 PM
Thanks!  I took it in and the 'timing' was off or something.  I have had the thread catch on the spool though, took my a while to figure out what was happening there.  Thanks for the thought!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: PINK! A Sundress w/ Pockets (pictastic) on: May 08, 2010 01:38:50 PM
I love border print fabrics Smiley  And dresses with pockets!  Super cute!
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Alice in Wonderland American Girl Costume! on: May 08, 2010 10:23:27 AM

I had this planned long before the movie came out when I first saw the set photos of the dress.  Unfortunately, it was only shown in the movie under a coat.  But I made it anyway Smiley
You can see some photos from the movie here.

. . .. . .
. .

I made up all the patterns as I went along, except for the spats, which were from Samantha's patterns.  Sewing the ricrac was the worst part of it.  All the dips sewn to the peaks of the one below.  Very, very time consuming.
I like trying to get the details right, it's fun Smiley  I have some production notes and stories about my ridiculousness here if anyone is interested!

Thanks!

~Nikki
