1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Potholders on: September 17, 2009 03:38:12 PM
This is my newest addiction. I like the instant gratification! It's based off of Amy Butler's In Stitches project. This was my first try at both making my own binding and free motion quilting. They are for my sister in law, who likes bugs and has a yellow and blue kitchen.

Sorry for the lame cell phone picture. I miss my camera!
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Do I understand the process? on: October 11, 2008 12:00:56 PM
Ok soap stars...first of all, I've seen the completed projects and I cannot wait to get started. I want to make sure I'm understanding the steps/process.

If I want bar-style soap, I make it in a "loaf" and slice to get the beautiful, kind of rough, very natural look.

If I want soap like I'd get at the store, I make a loaf, let it set, grate it up, melt it again with some water, and put it in a mold. I would do the same thing if I wanted something like a rose, or frog or something like that.

Am I on the right track? I am looking forward to going to the library and getting some books, but I want to make sure I'm not totally clueless. I am really looking forward to starting.

Thanks in advance for your help!

3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My first completed project on: September 07, 2007 07:56:47 PM
Hey, this is a small quilt I made for a swap. I guess technically it's not a quilt, since it isn't quilted, but it is pieced, and I am proud of it. Lord knows it's not perfect, but I really had fun making it!  So here goes:

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / How do you take care of your quilts? on: July 23, 2007 01:58:59 PM
How do you wash your quilts? Do you just stick them in the machine at home, take them to the laundromat, or just hope and pray the kids don't make a mess? I've always heard that you should never wash a quilt at home. What are your thoughts?
5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Any suggestions for a quilt for my 5 yr old son? on: July 21, 2007 06:50:04 PM
My son has  a very special quilt he got at my baby shower. Well, I got it, but it was for him. You know what I mean. Anyway, he's getting too big to sleep under it.  He really loves Yellowy. That's her name. She's very special to him. I've suggested making a new blanket for him to sleep under, but he just wants me to make Yellowy bigger. Like put her in the center, and make something around her. I'd like for it to be a quilt, but I'm at a loss as to how to do it. Yellowy is made of flannel, and tied. It has big pieces, but not a nine patch or any particular pattern. It's also Winnie the Pooh, which I don't love, so I'm thinking I'll just do solids around it? I don't know. Any ideas?
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Ever buy fabric on Ebay? on: July 06, 2007 07:09:24 PM
Does anyone ever buy the precut squares on ebay? Or fabric in general? Just curious to see what the craftsters here have to say!
