1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Thesis Show! on: May 06, 2008 10:30:01 PM
After four years I'm finally done with my thesis show!!!

My main piece was a screen printed set of "prayer flags"
"There Ain't No Sin and There Ain't No Virtue"

I also had a sculptural tire piece which is posted in the crochet section in a very different installation.
"Joey"

This is a small embroidery/applique piece that is comprised of three panels.
"Saint"

I had a few other screen printed pieces in the show as well.

If you guys would like, Ill post my artist statement...

p.s. I LOVE critique!

Thanks for looking!
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Commissioned Figure Drawing on: April 17, 2008 08:22:44 PM
A woman commissioned this piece for her bathroom. It's about 18x24 in pencil.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Sheets and Balloons on: April 17, 2008 08:19:32 PM
We had a Trashion show (I know, it's really really lame) where you had to make your piece out of "trash."
So, I made a top out of an old black sheet that had gotten bleach on it and some neon water balloons

and here's an action shot of her with the model who wore her piece.

4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Painting "Stare Worthlessly" on: April 16, 2008 09:20:25 PM
This s acrylic on canvas paper. It's really small, but I think it turned out really well. the text reads "go ahead worthless friend, stare as long as you can, you're completely unwelcome"

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Painting and Contour on: April 16, 2008 09:17:30 PM
This piece is a pen and ink contour drawing with acrylic over top. the text reads "gabrielle murray passed out last week, she just wanted the crayons" it's about three feet or so

6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Don't know what to call it. on: April 16, 2008 09:14:16 PM
This is a...... well it's a...... some sort of thing. It's made of red plastic, plastic dowels, and a MASSIVE stack of old Percussion Ensemble programs and tickets that I've managed to collect over the years. I really don't know what to say about this piece...

7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Pencil Drawing on: April 16, 2008 09:04:18 PM
This is a small colored pencil drawing that started a massive body of fibers work that i've been developing the past few years. I thought I'd share it because I'm still in love with it

Sorry for the horrid photo quality!!! I seem to have lost the one I actually shot in the lighting studio.
8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Map Installation "They Lied Too Many Times" on: April 16, 2008 09:00:00 PM
I made this in a fibers class actually.
It's a map of my campus. there are three maps layered in india ink on sheets of tracing paper. between and on top of them are pressed paper molds of arrows that are meant to mark distinctive places in my four years there. it measures about eight feet by six feet.

9  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Antigone Costumes on: April 16, 2008 08:41:49 PM
I did the costumes for Tieresias and the child for a play at the local highschool.

The dress is heavy grey with a black yoke and collar. the cape is this crazy shiny metallic see-through starry moony stuff with a hood that is worn on stage in some scenes. Tieresias is a blind, prophetic, "seer" kind of character.

(I didn't realize that these two photos are from two different castings of the play)
10  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Dance Costumes on: April 16, 2008 08:32:18 PM
These didn't turn out how I intended, but they really worked with the piece.

And the girls with Dani, the choreographer.
