1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Vintage dress turned Vest and Skirt on: July 05, 2007 08:30:56 PM
Hi all, I'm Lauren. I've been looking around for a while, and this is my first post. ^^

Last year at Catholic Charities I found a dress I liked and I bought it for a whole $.25. However, it was a little big for me and made my hips look larger than I consider flattering. So it sat around in my room for a while. Recently I started learning to machine sew, so I remembered the dress and wanted to try revamping it.

Here's the dress before:

Not such a great face day.

And the vest made from the bodice...

And my new skirt...

I'm pretty pleased with the results. I did pretty well, I think, considering the only things I'd machine sewed before it were a couple of sock monkeys. But I'm not really knowledgable about sewing clothes, so what do you think?  Smiley
