1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Big Girl stuff - Swap? on: February 11, 2006 09:51:58 AM
What about a big girl stuff swap?  I guess that this might be difficult to organize because we are all different big girl sizes, but I thought that there are some things we all can use.  Big girl patterns that have multi sizes, belts that can be adjusted, printed T-Shirts, so forth...

What do y'all think?  Any other ideas of things we can swap?
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Album Cover Bag with fabric on: September 18, 2005 03:03:14 PM
I've seen album cover bags constructed together with grommets and laced up but I was pretty sure I could just sew through the album covers with my upholstery needle and it worked!  here's my prototype.  I'm going to refine the process in subsequent bags but I'm just so damned pleased with the thing that I had to share with y'all.  I don't know, I have a thing for folksy looking albums from the 70's.  They crack me up.  Anyway, here it is!
3  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Crafters United for Hurricane Relief - Etsy Store on: September 04, 2005 03:27:49 PM
http://craftrevolution.com/craftersunited.htm

I know that it is posted inside other Katrina threads but I thought it deserved a thread all it's own.

They are getting indie craft makers together to donate their stuff with all of the proceeds going to hurricane Katrina relief.  I'm doing some Christmas shopping at the etsy store right now so I can give my friends some nifty stuff AND help people suffering from the hurricane and flood.

Pass it on!  The more people buying stuff at that store the better!
4  California / California: Central / Bay Area Craftster Field Trip Group! on: July 25, 2005 05:28:28 PM
I want to go to crafty places with crafty people, how 'bout you?

Anyone else intertested in craftster-lishous fieldtrips around the San Francisco Bay Area?  Know of any cool shops, exhibits, festivals, expo's, galleries, inspiring places, workshops, street festivals, conventions.... around the Bay Area?  Let's get a group together and go!

For starters, I've never been to SCRAP up in the city and I'd really like to.  Anyone want to go with me?

Come on folks, anyone have any other good ideas of crafty places to go?
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Getting a Little Squirrelly! on: July 10, 2005 08:51:55 AM

I'm looking out my window watching the squirrels jump around twitching their tails, sniffing the air, running up and down the tree, and I have decided that with their little hands and curiosity that they have to be the damned cutest creatures I've seen.

I want to make and see some squirrel crafts!  I'm thinking we could either make one item (if it took a lot of work or skill to make) or a several items (if it is a simple craft or didn't require a whole lot of skill to make.)  What do you think?  I expect only a few others interested in such a specific swap so it could be a lot of fun!  Anyway, anyone else interested?
6  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Knit against Nike! on: June 15, 2005 06:13:47 PM

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Color Fetish! on: May 20, 2005 06:31:31 PM
Chartruse? Violet? Marygold? Bright Blue? etc...

Do you have a desire to make crafts using vibrant colors? Then we should have a swap!  Perhaps we can have at least two large-ish items and maybe a few other little thingies as well.

That's it!  What do you think?
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Fantasy Swap? (Legend, Labyrinth, LOR, etc...) on: February 19, 2005 09:12:01 AM
Love the movie Labyrinth?  Legend?  Dark Crystal?  Ladyhawke?  Lord of the Rings?  maybe even Willow?  or The Neverending Story?   Do you like Froud's artwork?

I thought a fairy swap would be in order here at craftster.  But then I thought why just fairies?  I mean I'm just looking for people who love the whole fantisy feel and there's no reason to stifle people if they're into dragons, magical forests, unicorns, elves or whatever.  So now I'm thinking we should have  a "Fantasy" swap (as in the "fantasy" section in the book store?)
We could make a figurines, or clothes/costumes, or even fantasy inspired items like jewelry, scarves, handbags...

Doesn't matter what as long as it is something that gives you the same feeling as the movies listed above.

So what do you think?  Too weird?  to non-specific?  I'll take any feedback you have!

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Expenses; how can I lower them? on: February 13, 2005 12:15:36 PM
I'm new to beading and I LOVE shopping at bead stores.  There's something so tactile and therapeutic about all of the colors and textures.

That being said, this hobby is becoming EXPENSIVE!   I'm getting really tired of my local bead shop's high mark-up's.  Do you know any on-line stores that have decent prices?  If you're from the Bay Area maybe you know of a resource that a beginner like me might not know about?  Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can lower my beading expenses?

Thanks in advance.

10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Monkey Nipples! on: February 12, 2005 03:59:46 PM
I was so inspired by everyone's sock monkey's that I was ispired to create my own using a pair of men's argyle socks. This picture doesn't show her face very well but I'm pleased with her little snout, eyes and general expression. I enjoyed using two tiny black buttons for her monkey nipples! I have seen some patterns for Sock Monkey clothes too. I think with the argyle legs she would look good in some ska wear.
