1  Re: request for new thread/I mean board(larger peoples clothing ideas and patterns)/ in Suggest New Boards and New Features by Fonduie on: December 30, 2005 06:17:54 PM
I stayed up late last night sewing this drop waist skirt with little gussets.  I used green corduroy but it think using such stiff fabric made the gussets a little wonkey.  I'm thinking about tearing them out and using a thinner contrasting fabric just to make it a little more interesting.

Anyway, just thought I'd share with y'all, my plus size sistas.

2  Album Cover Bag with fabric in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Fonduie on: September 18, 2005 03:03:14 PM
I've seen album cover bags constructed together with grommets and laced up but I was pretty sure I could just sew through the album covers with my upholstery needle and it worked!  here's my prototype.  I'm going to refine the process in subsequent bags but I'm just so damned pleased with the thing that I had to share with y'all.  I don't know, I have a thing for folksy looking albums from the 70's.  They crack me up.  Anyway, here it is!

4  Getting a Little Squirrelly! in New Swap Theme Ideas by Fonduie on: July 10, 2005 08:51:55 AM

I'm looking out my window watching the squirrels jump around twitching their tails, sniffing the air, running up and down the tree, and I have decided that with their little hands and curiosity that they have to be the damned cutest creatures I've seen.

I want to make and see some squirrel crafts!  I'm thinking we could either make one item (if it took a lot of work or skill to make) or a several items (if it is a simple craft or didn't require a whole lot of skill to make.)  What do you think?  I expect only a few others interested in such a specific swap so it could be a lot of fun!  Anyway, anyone else interested?

7  Re: Spring Fun Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Fonduie on: June 02, 2005 06:12:44 PM

I'm so glad you like the loot!  I made the blue and white scaf 'cuz you said that it was your favorite color.  And It's a super light scarf so It shouldn't be out of the question for spring.
Also thanks for posting the picture Krafty-Kritter.  My digi cam died and I didn't have a picture.  I worked really hard on that purse so now I can use this shot for my little craft portfolio!

8  Re: Craft Challenge #1 - Under $5 From a Dollar Store - Due May 31 to June 2 (2005) in Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. by Fonduie on: June 01, 2005 02:16:29 AM
I did two projects, the first one my 5 year old came up with and he helped me glue all the stones on.
That is soo funny giggles, I got the same decorative stones for my project!
I like your doggie dish better.  So much more useful than just a spatula!

9  Spatula Mirror by Fonduie in Craftster Craft Challenges by Fonduie on: May 31, 2005 07:14:56 AM
First of all yeah for Dollar Tree!

I Bought a metal spatula, a little grooming set that included a small hand mirror, a bag of small decorative stones and a bag of large decorative stones (and had a dollar left over for snacks!.)  I used my handy glitter glue gun to put it all together.

and I turned it into a hand held or hanging (as shown hanging from my kitchen wall where I normally keep my oven mitts) little vanity mirror.  We're talking about a glamor spatula turned mirror, baby!  Who says that you can't check yourself out whilst cooking!

Anyway, thanks for this contest.  I had a blast for $4!

10  Re: Jordy Bag - Square Bottomed Lined Bag Tutorial in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Fonduie on: May 27, 2005 10:05:07 PM

This is plastic canvas.  Many purse patterns call for this stuff cut down to fit into purse linings to make the bag stiff but still washable.  I have made a few purses using the stuff and it has worked brilliantly.  I have to admit that I haven't had to wash any purses yet but I can imagine that it would work.  Oh, and don't forget to use interfacing too, it's a hassle but well worth it.

Anyway, hope this helps.
