Crap... I thought that was the one I pasted in my post.  Sorry. http://www.sweetpaprikadesigns.com/Windermere.pdf

Ok.  Maybe I looked at that one wrong.  But what about the Windermere pattern? .... I'll have to go back and recount the stitches and see.

I'm with the second link bibe sent  you.  It looks more like a wide cable then just a knit/purl stitch.  That panel will be a lot simpler than the light purple panel.  Good luck!

(Cabling isn't near as hard as it sounds or looks.  I was scared of it until I finally figured it out.  So simple haha)
34  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lace Knitting - 'No Stitch'??? on: June 12, 2009 07:58:39 PM
I taught myself how to knit, read patterns both written and charted and also semi-successfully knit from them.  Except the whole 'no stitch' grey boxes in charts.  WHAT IS THAT?!  I've spent days searching, trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do.... but... nothing.  Can anyone explain this make-my-life-miserable thing to me, please?!?!  I will love you forever.

If you're not entirely sure what I'm talking about (god, I hope you are), here's a link to the Windermere Scarf http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall07/images/muirBIG.jpg.  Chart's on page 4.  I want to eventually make this one.  Right now, I want to start the Muir shawl from Knitty.

Please help me!!!!!!!

Thank you in advance.
35  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Ruffles coin purse, recycle! on: May 23, 2009 05:19:58 PM
haha Aren't they awesome?  I've made several bags from chip bags.  They draw a lot of attention.  I didn't sew mine.  I used Duct Tape to line it and hold everything together.  They're very sturdy and with the duct tape, the bag isn't crinkly any more.

haha I know.  Asking for plastic bags always brings on strange reactions.  A word of advice, I would stay away from Target bags.   Find a grocery store with red and white.  The Target ones don't work that well, at least for me.  Every time I've tried to use them, they stick to my hook and make it pretty much impossible.  If you can get them to work for you, I wish you all the luck lol.  I say stick to the crunchy bags.  After you cut them up and make whatever it is that you're going to make, they are no longer crunchy.

Thank you!  Yes, it i possible to knit with this -but- I thought it was kind of hard because it has absolutely no stretch to it at all. I haven't had anygood luck with knitting with this stuff. If you do, I would love to see how it comes out.
38  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / First Raw Fleece: Picking, Washing & A Question on: April 10, 2009 06:28:22 PM
How I got it: I called a friend who gave me the phone number of a couple that live across the street that raise sheep.  I called just mid December and was told they were going to sheer mid-March.  The lady called back April 3rd and told me to come pick up a fleece.  My mom was in the hospital so, my husband and I stole her car and went to get it.  They gave me a garbage bag full!  I'm so excited.  They were extremely nice.  Her husband made sure to give me good, usable stuff and took out parts that were garbage or just wasn't usable.

Over the last couple days I've been picking out hay and picking apart clumps of dirt.  I looked up how to process it and have washed a couple handfulls of it.  It turned amazingly white.

My problem: There's still some dirt that I can't get off.  It's been soaking for just barely under two days now.  I routinely change the water and have been using shampoo.  What should I do about the dirt that refuses to come out???  Do I cut it off?  Will it come out when I use the carders?

Washed:

The dirt: (I do know some of it is hay)

Now, my question:
Does anyone know where I can get hand carders cheap?  Or, anyone have any (or know anyone that has any) that they won't be using any more?  I'll take good care of them! lol.
39  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Woodstock!! (from Peanuts) on: April 09, 2009 09:05:10 PM
My mom has always loved Woodstock and kind of identified herself with him.  She got a tattoo of him on her wrist a few months ago too lol.  I made this for her probably, close to a year ago now.  My husband and I recently borrowed her car to go pick up some wool and this was in her car.  I figured I should take advantage of the moment and finally get pictures of him.  I used the Fone Bone pattern for the head, the rest was free-handed.  The only thing that I don't like about him.... I don't think I put enough stuffing in him.

(I also crocheted the little pig in the background.  It's an angel piggy haha)

Oh geez *tear* lol.  I'm in the exact same place.  I know exactly how you feel.  I have the same problem, (damn kid) but mine's only been four years.  We recently got back from vacation to Las Vegas with our friends and I couldn't even enjoy it like I wanted because of this.  Funny, huh. I think it's great that you did this, if for no other reason than for your self.  You're not alone.  Great song, by the way.
