1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Little Brown dress from an Adult skirt - Recon Baby! on: July 22, 2008 10:37:39 AM
Hey Ya'll....

So, I love a good and simple recon!! I bought this cute brown skirt from Dirt Cheap (my fave store) for 50 cents - I cut it, sewed it, added a ribbon halter strap, snaps, this little crocheted flower, and a pretty brown and cream glass bead and WHALLA! a cute little dress for my little cutie. She loves it and I hope you do too! Smiley

p.s. I can't get her to take a picture w/o her posing! lol
2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Mexican Boiled Chicken? on: July 22, 2008 09:22:40 AM
Hey all you fabuloso cooks out there -

When I was a little girl we lived in a primarily hispanic neighborhood in Dallas, TX.
We spent a lot of time with our neighbors and one of the ladies used to make a boiled chicken, shred it and serve it w/homemade warm tortillas and mexican rice....I don't know HOW she did it or have any idea for a recipe she could have used.  Could anyone help me out here?  I want to make that food!!  I'm having such a craving for it and the local mexican restaurant just won't cut it. Smiley
Thanks!!!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Easter/Wedding/Church Outfits! PIC HEAVY on: May 15, 2008 09:14:33 AM
Hey Ya'll - I know ya'll don't know me very well because my posts are few and far between, but I was so proud of these outfits I had to post them!  Smiley
I made them the night before Easter (which I do NOT recommend. lol) and they've worn them so much already!  I made the pants, skirt, ties, and headband!

MY FAVE:

4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / New stuff - 1st pattern - LOADS of pics on: February 18, 2008 08:52:18 AM
Here's a pr of pants I made my lil man - he needed jammies and I found this really cute camo/froggy flannel at Walmart for cheap!

And here's an outfit for my gal that I made w/a pattern!!  My first pattern since I was, 10???  Anyways, I altered the pattern a little and added pants (oh I didn't make the pink shirt! lol):

OH - and here are little girl aprons I made awhile ago (out of handtowels!!).....

And a little boy's outfit:

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Recon Heaven - and pic crazy! on: February 18, 2008 08:45:50 AM
OK - I've never been able to post pics on here before, so let's hope I'm doing it right....
First, here's a cropped sweater I made from 2 women's wool sweaters (that I felted in the wash machine.)  And a matching hat:

Then a skirt/legwarmer combo made from an old shirt!

Last, a "snow white" (dd named) dress w/a snap on cape made from a skirt I had that didn't fit anymore (and just looked wonky!)

When it's clean I can't get her to take it off!!! lol

Likey?
6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / I'm new and I've made a Cheytown Dress!!! on: July 02, 2007 01:42:12 PM
HI,
I just wrote out a really long, wordy post and it was deleted during a craftster mainenance (?) time....*sniff*
Anyways,
I'M NEW and I actually found this fantastic site a few wks ago - as well as cheytown's great tute for the repurposed shirt dress - FANTASTIC!  I am a beginner sewer and it was still pretty easy!  I had to take the dress in a do a few other things (after the pics were taken) but it turned out really cute.  My husband was thrilled too as these were made from an old shirt he wore ALL the time - but since has lost over 115 lbs.  He thought it was so neat that it would still be used.  Smiley  I ended up making a matching headband, matching shorts for the boys, as well as appliqueing matching "ties" to onesies for them! They looked so sweet and wore the outfits on father's day.  Sorry it's so hard to see the actual outfits in the pic of all 3 of them...at least you can see that they match!!  Smiley

THANKS for the tute cheytown - it is fantastic and I will be making lots more sets from my hubby's old "fat shirts"!!!  Smiley

BLESSINGS ALL!
Emily
