Let it be known that I am less than an amateur when it comes to sewing. I don't know anything about anything. I lurk around this forum for hours and drool. I run out and buy patterns only to be completely bewildered by the instructions. This recon was purely a rip and resew that has a lot of a room for improvement.

So I don't exactly remember where the FrumpFest came from, but anyone who has been to a secondhand store has seen one like this. It is a delightful stretchy, itchy, polyestery little number, but not particularly my style. I decided the sleeves and length were the first thing that had to go. I took my scissors and sloppily chopped here and there.

Tada! Well, not exactly finished yet. Although, a little piece of me wishes I would have stopped then. Only, there was A LOT of extra bosom room that well, I didn't need.

So I decided to unbutton the dress and then pull one half of it over until fit a little better.

I pinned it in place, and then sewed up the side.

I added some completely non-functional and only for show green buttons to cover the button holes from the old buttons.

Andddd VOILA!

So it pulls in weird places a little because well, I don't know what I am doing and I may have overcorrected the length a little too much. I would have preferred it to be a couple more inches longer, teehee.
So all you lurkers who dream of being able to sew, but words like "interfacing" and "serger" make you nauseous, JUST START CUTTING! And then...sometime later (when it is convenient for you) you can learn how to sew for real.
