11  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / House Swap on: February 26, 2008 02:05:30 PM
I ADORE the tv show House and would love to organize a swap dedicated to that fabulous man. What do you think?
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Recycled yarn on: January 26, 2008 12:41:49 AM
I have an old knit sweater that is way past my taste but I don't want to throw it away. I'd heard about recycling the yarn and I would love that because then I'm not contributing to landfills and what not and get to knit with a fantastic yarn. My problem is, how do you go about retrieving the yarn? Do you find the end and just frog or what?

 Huh
13  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Fiber Friday - 12/28/07 Post-Christmas Goodness on: December 28, 2007 12:39:56 AM
Yay Fiber Friday! Even though I was sick as a dog I still spun up some goodies from my new wheel! An Ashford Kiwi! Here we go:

The Muppets Band! - A fantastic mix of Kermit green, Gonzo Blue, ANIMAL!!! Pink, Fozzie Orange, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew yellow-green, plied with with Ms. Piggy Pink thread! Spun from wool mill ends. Approximately 85 yards.

The colors are kind of stale in this pic. Was storming all day.

Some random handspun! The back one is spun from roving I purchase from CJKopecCreations.etsy.com and the front one was spun from a surprise crazy batt from Moustacheridesyarn :]

Here is my favourite by far! I call it Clouds in my Coffee on a Winter Morning.

Yay :3
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Your first major project on: December 15, 2007 08:29:59 AM
I'm trying to make the leap and knit my own sweater. What was your first project? Were you satisfied with the end product? The pattern?

If you are able and choose to please post the pattern. I'm curious to see what people try once they get past scarves and hats and things.
15  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Etsy and other sites on: December 09, 2007 03:12:58 PM
I have an Etsy and I have a BigCartel account. I'm using BigCartel now because it doesn't charge a fee for it's basic account and I'm a beginning to sell  so I don't want to pay the fee if my crafts don't sell.

What are your opinions on Etsy and BigCartel? is there one that you like better than the other or do they both suck and you love another site?
16  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Medical Yarn =3 on: November 24, 2007 06:04:05 PM
I was inspired by the spun newspaper post and my EMT professor.  I brought my knitting to class and she noted my obsession with knitting and spinning so I decided to mix my two passions, medicine and crafting!

2-ply, 11yds, made from gauze and wrap

17  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Hamster bedding? on: November 07, 2007 09:00:38 PM
I didn't know where else to ask so I thought here.

Is it safe to cut up old magazines and use it for hamster bedding? Or are the dyes in the paper an issue?
18  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Newbie needs help! on: November 01, 2007 03:11:32 PM
So, I absolutely love the look of woven scarves! What equipment would I purchase that's good for beginners but helps make projects as large as scarves? Also, is it possible to purchase from a local store such as Hobby Lobby?
19  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Tokidoki love! on: August 17, 2007 11:49:28 PM
So I am pretty much obsessed with the Tokidoki products for LeSportSac. I love the bright colors and the patterns

I do not like shoulder purses, I constantly have to pull them up.So I love messengers, but I really love Canguro from LeSportSac.

So my question is, does anyone know of a pattern for this? It seems pretty simple but I'm not quite skilled in sewing just yet. I think I'm just going to have to wing it.

Here's the link for better pics.

There's a zipped main closure; Two front slash pockets; Front mesh pocket with snap closure; Front zipper pocket; Inside carabiner on stretch cord
20  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Costume on: August 05, 2007 05:57:49 PM
I know this is really really early but I'm getting prepared because I'm a slacker sometimes.

I'm on a drill team with my high school and at Halloween we dress up our "little sister" in a costume. An example of this is  'The Black-Eyed Peas'.  A girl dressed up her sis in a t-shirt with a big black P on it and painted black rings around her eyes. Of course I want something a little more creative and want to blow the other girls away, does anyone have any clever suggestions or previous experience of something like this?
