1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Newest Re Bag on: January 28, 2009 09:12:24 AM
This is my newest bag that is made from recycled sweaters.  It also includes vintage buttons and vintage fabric for the handles and bottom.  The lining is a vintage bedsheet.

This bag works great for keeping you warm as well as all your stuff.  I live in Florida and it is great for me too because it is really not that hot carrying it!

Front - whole view

I love this lining of the bag - it adds such a punch to the black outside.

I would love to know what you think!

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / New Re Bag on: January 20, 2009 06:48:21 AM
A new year and a New Bag -

This is the Re Bag because it uses:

* Re-cycled felted wool Sweaters
* Re-claimed Vintage outdoor Fabric
* Re-purposed vintage bed sheets
* Re-used vintage buttons

They are super fun to make and and I get to be creative with the outside design which uses the felted seams from the sweater when I cut them up.

Thank for looking!

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Recyled Wool Bucket Bag on: January 15, 2009 08:41:25 AM
I have a LARGE stash of vintage fabric and wool felted sweaters and I have been trying to figure out  project to help my stash get smaller, so that I can buy more. . .  you know how it goes.

Here is my new bucket bag.  It is made with a felted wool sweater, vintage outdoor fabric, and lined with vintage bed sheets.

Bottom has another piece of the vintage outdoor fabric.

Inside even includes a snap and pocket!

The size is about 12" high by 4" deep and 9" wide.

Thanks for looking and I would love to know what you think of it!

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Found Vintage Hand Pieced Quilt on: January 11, 2009 10:11:19 AM
I don't normally post in this group, but thought you all would like to see this.

I found this hand stitched and pieced quilt at my local thrift store.  It is about a twin size and is so neat.  The use of fabric, I can only imagine is from cut up old clothing.

I haven't decided what to do with it yet, but it is just too neat!

Detail of the hand stitching.

What do you think I should do with it!

Thanks for looking!

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Vintage Recycled Sling Bag on: June 01, 2008 08:33:37 PM
I made this bag, we have all seen this style before.  I call it a sling bag, because you just sling it over your wrist and GO!

It is made from Vintage Fabric and lined with vintage recycled sheets.

Here is a better shot of the inside including pocket.

What do you think?  Do you know the ACTUAL name of this bag style?

Thanks - Dena

6  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Whale of a good time on: May 02, 2008 01:39:17 PM
Here is the daddy to the little whales that I made before http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=241307.

I crocheted a Japanese Pattern from http://link.rakuten.co.jp/1/001/714/?url=27ss/27-kujira.pdf with a larger hook and then Felted it.  I added eyes and a mouth with other wool needle felted on.

My hubby has been bringing his lunch to work and he needed a reusable bag, that was not only cute but manly so that his office mates would not laugh at him.

Here it is.

I needed a little whale for baby gifts that I am making.  The pattern is still a work in progress and I will post it if others are interested.

Shown on a 6"x11" piece of paper.

The loop is so that he can be attached to a stroller and not get lost!

Just one question - Do you think that he needs eyes and a mouth?

Thanks - Dena

10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / International Shipping Help FOUND! on: April 06, 2008 08:12:57 AM
I have been finally doing better on my sales.  But now I have been getting request from International buyers for products.  At first, I would add the country requested to the item that the person wanted with the correct shipping.  This seemed to work, But I knew that there must be a better way.

So did a little googling and found this 'Tutorial' from beading Tree about shipping.  She references a chart on  another website that scales down the shipping to only 5 locations.

Now that ETSY has batch shipping changing program, it makes it easy to make the switch to get those customers that want your products over the pond!

--- I did this last night with my products, and was happy to get a purchase from Australia this morning! ---

Hope this helps as much as it did me!

I would be happy to answer any questions too!
