1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Newest Re Bag on: January 28, 2009 09:12:24 AM
This is my newest bag that is made from recycled sweaters.  It also includes vintage buttons and vintage fabric for the handles and bottom.  The lining is a vintage bedsheet.

This bag works great for keeping you warm as well as all your stuff.  I live in Florida and it is great for me too because it is really not that hot carrying it!

Front - whole view

I love this lining of the bag - it adds such a punch to the black outside.

I would love to know what you think!

Wow, RunnerMom!  Thanks for the virtual pat on the back. The seam thing just came to me while trying to figure out something more for the bag.  Since I throw out nothing - Yikes! I had all the seams from the sweater that I have used.

I have to post photos of my newest one soon!

Thanks again!

Dena

Absolutely gorgeous bag!  I love the seams swirling all over the front of the bag...great idea!  You really do beautiful work!

Thank you for the kind words.  Thank goodness I have a large selection of stock of sweaters and fabric.

A new year and a New Bag -

This is the Re Bag because it uses:

* Re-cycled felted wool Sweaters
* Re-claimed Vintage outdoor Fabric
* Re-purposed vintage bed sheets
* Re-used vintage buttons

They are super fun to make and and I get to be creative with the outside design which uses the felted seams from the sweater when I cut them up.

Thank for looking!

Thanks for the thoughts!  I like the color combination.  My husband, not so much.  I told it was funky.  He still didn't get it Smiley

I have a LARGE stash of vintage fabric and wool felted sweaters and I have been trying to figure out  project to help my stash get smaller, so that I can buy more. . .  you know how it goes.

Here is my new bucket bag.  It is made with a felted wool sweater, vintage outdoor fabric, and lined with vintage bed sheets.

Bottom has another piece of the vintage outdoor fabric.

Inside even includes a snap and pocket!

The size is about 12" high by 4" deep and 9" wide.

Thanks for looking and I would love to know what you think of it!

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Found Vintage Hand Pieced Quilt on: January 12, 2009 09:05:14 PM
I've made my kids some 45x45" quilts for use as a baby. They are generously sized and grow well into the toddler years. Now that they are in twin beds I can lay the quilt on the diagonal on the bed as a topper and it covers quite a bit

Thanks Nemejia - Great Idea!  I will have to see when the time comes!

Thanks for the thoughts.  I think that I may keep it for a baby's room some day.  I would love to make a baby quilt and then use the rest for pillows and such.  I just keep thinking I don't want to cut it down.

Maybe I will just make it into a twin quilt and keep it for the baby's room.  I don't know.  Either way - Finding it made my day!

I don't normally post in this group, but thought you all would like to see this.

I found this hand stitched and pieced quilt at my local thrift store.  It is about a twin size and is so neat.  The use of fabric, I can only imagine is from cut up old clothing.

I haven't decided what to do with it yet, but it is just too neat!

Detail of the hand stitching.

What do you think I should do with it!

Thanks for looking!
