2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Lady Robyne Hood!!!! on: November 06, 2010 03:27:26 PM
So this year I got a little ambitious and decided to make my entire costume. Normally I make at least one piece, and find/alter the rest. This is this first year of head to toe sewing. Enjoy!

The Bodice and 'Shift' are slightly altered versions of Simplicity 3618. The Skirt is my own design.

Detail Shots:
The arrows are made bamboo, and I hot-glued feathers on them for the fletching.

Quiver.

The Hat is my favourite part. I found instructions online here

3  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: got an old pair of jeans you're just ITCHING to recon? JEAN-A-LONG ANYONE?? on: May 07, 2009 02:24:28 PM

So this is the jeans stash I had to work with. I just noticed that only one pair was complete and the rest have already been hacked at  Cheesy

And heres one of the things I made from it

I just tore some jeans into 1 inch or so strips, and weaved them together. My 'method' was just to staple all the longways strips right next to each other on a piece of wood and weaved the short pieces through it. then I pinned the outside and ran a zig zag around the whole thing and badda-bing! You have yourself a nifty floor mat.

I've also made a few other things, but I haven't taken any photos. My jean stash is finally at a managable level! I'll try to take some photos of the other things I've made and post soon.

6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Costume help: Mother Nature, but angry?? on: October 16, 2008 11:28:41 AM
Thanks guys, those ideas are great! I like the idea of sheer fabric over my dress that I can tatter. I don't really wear makeup, so I wouldn't know how to go about making myself look sunken? Need to start making dress soon.

Nice! I like the lace. Good job!
8  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Costume help: Mother Nature, but angry?? on: October 14, 2008 02:53:12 PM
So I've decided to be Mother Nature this year (or rather, I looked through my stash and found a dress pattern and some lovely green fabric and thought "hmm..." Grin).
I wanted to do something a bit less generic though, and I'm very conscious of the state the Environment and Earth are in (did someone say Global Warming?). So I thought, Mother Nature would be very angry/pissed off at the state of the world and how we've destroyed her. So how do I portray that? I don't want to tatter the dress or harm it, so that I can use it again for a different costume if I want. Any ideas?  Huh

Here is a link to the pattern I have. http://www.lanetzliving.net/inc/sdetail/5996
I'm using a greeny-brownish fabric for the dress and a leaf-type fabric for the vest thingy.
Help is greatly appreciated.

I have plenty of old jeans that I've always intended on "doing something" with. This maybe a good place to figure out what to do with them. I've done some purses out of them, but I need a bigger project to help clear out the stash. (Apparently I'm kind of a hoarder  Roll Eyes )
10  COOKING / Dessert / Re: exciting twist on and old favorite! PB& J on: June 07, 2008 02:53:39 PM
I have a recipe similar to this around my house somewhere that I've been meaning to try. You've just inspired me to make it! Now if only I knew where I put it......
