YEARGH, sorry, just a bit annoyed there. Been trying so hard to make things work on my end.
If you posted on the blog, I signed you up for permission to post on the site, so watch your e-mail. I dont know if the email says it is from blogger or my E-mail. So watch out you dont accidentally delete it thinking it is spam. If you do, let me know, and I'll send it again.
I added some information on the site to maybe answer some preliminary questions as to my progress and needs, feel free to peruse.
I hope you end up having better luck than I. It is almost impossible to find people here to do anything, and 90% of the people who I do find, pitter out almost immediately. I originally had 6-7 people interested in doing the Craft Mafia, so I put up a site for easier setting up of meetings and whatnot, and within one month, I'm back down to me and one other firm member, with the others not even returning my emails. It is very frustrating, especially since all the hard work I have put into it has been for naught. I hate doing a ton of work for nothing.
I would more than anything like to get together with people to craft just to have fun. Selling would be nice, but it seems to be a hopeless dream at this point. Much more of this, and I'm gonna give up!
I would love to have more of you if you are interested. Also if you know anyone who might want in, please let them know. I am having a tough time. I don't want to invest money and time into a busted concept, so the more the merrier, and the happier I will be!
Im in Double Diamond, and I'm trying hard to get another meeting set up, but I can't seem to get anyone to remember to read the blog for updates. I have been trying for 2 weeks to get one scheduled. Me and another person are desperately trying to get it off the ground, but we need relatively consistent attendance and serious people to do it, since it is definitely more "involved" than just a regular club.
Her and I have start-up fees taken care of, but there is no freaking way we are willing to front all the annual dues by ourselves, it is pricy for just 2 people. We are trying to set up positions so we can get the final paperwork and incidentals done (they have specific requirements).
We are hoping to do craft fairs and such, and have occasional speakers and demonstrations at meetings. Maybe we can get some discounts out of them. I would like to get "Going Batty" to offer us a discount, since they are the closest fabric store. But right now, what we need is more interested members.
The other girl helping out is just beginning roller derby, odd coincidence! I would love to do it too, just haven't skated in years, except rollerblading in college. Maybe you can help me get back on my feet, I would so love to join!
Just go to renocraftmafia.blogspot.com and comment with your e-mail and ill let you post, and i'll delete your comment so not everyone has your info.
helloo, I saw this and thought I would help you out. I just renewed all my licenses this month. The first thing you have to do is get a Federal tax ID, they are 10 bucks.
YOu need State, county, and local business licenses, which is pricy, just under $300 for all 3. You can get online and get the state license easily, it is $100. County may also be online for you, just search online for your county's business license division, it is easy enough. Local license divisions tend to be a bit backwards, so you will probably have to call them to have them send you the paperwork. they are ususally very friendly about it, so there is no hassle.
State and county licenses are really fast. The city one will take about a month or so because you have to deal with specific zoning issues and such. But, the annual renewal is super fast!
Don't try to go through weird business sites for the licenses, it is alot easier to just deal with the individual government run sites.
