2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: I Love The Office USA Edition Swap Gallery on: November 14, 2008 04:59:07 PM
I feel like a terrible organizer because I've received, but I haven't even sent yet.... This semester has really been kicking my butt Sad Plan is to have sent by Monday because I'll be riveting an Iraq War memorial all day tomorrow.

Anyway, I received from HHjamie, and I must say, this is the best swap package EVER!!!!!!!

Here's a group shot:

Something I've wanted forever: A JIM DOLL!!! He's in my car now Wink

Some fabulous stitch markers that I'm tempted to make into charms for a bracelet Wink

A Dwight stress ball in action:

Some fabulous goodies!

And, the piece de resistance:

A close up of the sexy librarian:

And the text:

A little back story: I'm a library assistant, working on my degree in library science. When Kevin said that quote to Pam (after she stayed over at "a friend's" :cough:jim's:cough: house, and she had to wear her glasses to work) I just about died! It is officially my favorite!

Jamie did a beautiful job and I am totally impressed with her handiwork! Thank you so much!
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Black Dahlia Costume on: November 06, 2008 09:08:27 PM
Thanks, everyone! I've never had a gross/scary/icky costume before, so I just sort of made the scars up as I went along. Thanks for the nice comments about them looking 3-D!

The last picture was taken a different night, after my hair had been in the curlers longer, so I look a little more put together. Thanks!
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: The White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland on: November 06, 2008 08:08:05 PM
Your daughter reminds me of Dakota Fanning!

I was going to say that, too!

THIS is the kind of costume I would love to have worn as a child. Heck, I might make my own adult version of it next year. AWESOME job!
5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / The Black Dahlia on: November 06, 2008 07:57:55 PM
I went as the Black Dahlia, unsolved murder victim Elizabeth Short

I got inspired by Elizabeth128 last year. Sorry for the picture quality...They were all taken with the timer function while my camera perched on the TV.

Details are here.
6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Black Dahlia Costume on: November 06, 2008 07:56:57 PM

I got inspired by Elizabeth128 last year and took her Black Dahlia costume and ran with it! Sorry for the picture quality...They were all taken with the timer function while my camera perched on the TV.

Here is me hamming it up in my costume pre-dead makeup:
Front and Back Views:

Blowing Kisses and Having fun!:

And post mortem:

(my favorite part is how the stitches look like they're fighting against gravity to keep my face together Wink )
For the slash marks, I used a line of red lip liner extending straight out from the corners of my mouth when it was open. I lined the red with white eye liner on top and bottom. I took black eye liner and drew straight down the center. Then I took black liquid eyeliner and deepened the cuts/ drew the stitched. Finally, I took black eyeshadow and created the illusion that the stitches were pulling at my mouth. I used black shadow in varying thicknesses to do my "deadface."

I drafted the pattern for my dress on my own, but based it on this discontinues Simplicity Pattern:

I'm pretty pleased with how it came out-- it was my first pattern draft.

My "dahlia" is actually 5 silk chrysanthemums hot glued together, because I couldn't find a dahlia ANYWHERE!
you can kind of see it better here:

I'm really pleased with how it turned out! Only about 5 people knew who I was, but that's enough Wink

10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: The Breakfast at Tiffany's Swap Gallery on: November 04, 2008 02:05:57 PM
So, I think I've had my package for about two months, but I've also had mono. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to post this-- I'm just now getting around to taking pictures. I have been so sick that it's been all but impossible for me to do so. The fabulous hannahkarina spoiled the poop out of me!

Everything together:

A sweet note on French Kitty at Tiffany's stationary:

A Tiffany's box I've already filled with stray beads:

A box of cracker jacks:

A "Little Black Dress" book bag that is use ALL OF THE TIME! It's wonderful!

Some adoreable stationary! There was one more card, but I used it already Smiley

And my favorite, Holly's Keys, a necklace!

Thank you so much Hannah, and thanks for a wonderful swap, guys!
