1  A Punk Rock Toddler! in Halloween Costumes by BTStars on: November 01, 2009 10:17:41 PM
Yay!  It's my very first challenge!  So, last halloween was my VERY first halloween as a mommy.  Our daughter, Kayleigh, was only 6 months old and I REALLY REALLY wanted to dress her up as a punk rocker, but I was a little nervous getting the hair coloring in her hair.  This year, I am wiser....and not as neat.  So I decided that I was going to do it!  Who cares about the mess?!?

So, I made her shirt out of a shirt that I used to wear in high school.  I just made a tube top and then safety pined a strap to make it a halter top.  The skirt we got at a children's second hand store here in town (an awesome place I might add).  Anyways, It was a cute plaid skirt, but she wasn't going to be a cute girl for Halloween, she was going to be a punk rocker!  So we had to punkify with (what else) some skull decals and more safety pins.  The chain (I didn't get a good picture of the chain) is actually my chihuahua's dog collar which was (you guessed it!) safety pinned on to her skirt.  The tights were just random tights we had and I took a seam ripper to them to make them "fishnets" because strangely enough they don't make toddler fishnet stockings...weird huh?  The boots we bought at Kohl's which we're going to return.  They're too big in the feet and too tight on the legs!!  Then there's the hair.  Oh boy.  You can see her fingers are all green because she was playing with her hair.  I should have just gone with the mohawk!  Now I have to clean her car seat...her newly green car seat!  The pictures aren't the best, but that's what you get for trying to take pictures of a toddler while she's playing in the park!

This is the front (sort of)

This is her side (oh yeah, we put a couple tattoos on her...because you're not punk rock until you got some ink Wink )

back (you can really see her green hair in this one!)

Another back! a skully on her butt Tongue

Another back...just because!

Here's a nice shot of the spider tattoo on her back!

Yay!  This was so much fun!  I hope this is the first of many homemade costumes to come!

Oh my goodness I have been away for oh so long!  The gallery looks awesome!  You guys are all so talented!  I received from Solitaire the other day.  I was in a mid-diaper change when the post-woman came to the door and I couldn't wait to open the package!  So, please excuse the half-naked baby!  So, I opened the box and I saw everything so neatly packaged that I ran to get my camera, by the time I came back, Kayleigh had already gotten into the box and took her lamb out!  I had to give her some treats to appease her so I could put the lamb back to take a picture.  She was still determined to get it though!

This is a beautiful teapot cozy!  I really like this because it blends Devin and my style (which is hard to do!) and considering that we like to drink tea together, it would be nice if he liked the teapot cozy too!  (Of course, now he's obsessed with cozies of all sorts Wink)

This is such a beautiful drawstring bag...but what could be in it?

Yay!  It's some tea!  We love tea!  If it wasn't for the fact that is has been soooo busy around here we would have already gotten into this!  It smells wonderful and I can't wait to try it!

Here is another beautiful drawstring bag, but what could be in this one?  Kayleigh will help us open it Wink

Hooray!  I have seriously always wanted Runes!  (which is an interesting thing to say....but we will have to wait for Solitaire to get her package Wink)

Look at this awesome Scrying Mirror!  I have always wanted to get a more varied experience with divination!  I have never used one and I am very *very* excited!

Here is a more formal (meaning she's fully clothed!) picture of Kayleigh with her new best friend Wink

Here is the Kayleigh Cakes eating her new cookies Wink  Ok, she is completely addicted to these!  A quarter of the container is already empty!

Here is Devin with his new "head cozy"!  He loves this!  One of his coworkers was asking about it today and he directed him to Craftster.  For all those who remember last round, I practically forced him (ok, apparently I "literally" per Devin) to join Craftster, and now he is helping spread the word....with little luck, Craftster will take over the world in a couple years *insert evil laugh*

Ok, I got a Goddess plushie!!  I love plushies and I've wanted a Goddess plushie for a VERY long time!

Speaking of wanting something for a very long time, here is a Tree of Life pendant!!  I am so excited about this!  I started my wists because I wanted to put a Tree of Life pendant on it!

Ok, here is my large.  Seriously get your wist buttons ready because this is the most awesome thing I have ever seen!!  Solitaire made me a Chakra Afghan!  This is beautiful!  The first night, I slept on the couch with it...so comfy!

Here is a detail pic, it's horrible and washed out, but it does show detail!

THANK YOU SO MUCH SOLITAIRE!!!!!
I love EVERYTHING!  I am particularly territorial of the blanket, though.  Devin only takes his off when he sleeps!  Grrrrr about him spying though!  I caught him going through my stuff and acting weird when I confronted him, he said that he was making something, then he changed his mind and said he was helping you, and then he was magically making something for me.....grrrrrr!  I can never tell what the heck is going on his head sometimes!!  You should get your package tomorrow!  I hope you like everything!  Ugh, now I have major swap anxiety!

I also received from Tampani~Jax today!  She made me a needlebook and a necklace.  I must say this is beautiful work!!

So, first is the really sweet letter she sent me.  Isn't this beautiful?  Is this handmade?

This is the gorgeous needlebook she made me!  This is completely my taste!  I was actually planning on putting a mosaic that looks just like this on my dinning room table.  She was even nice enough to send me some needles in it!  Which is good, because (since I didn't have a needlebook) I have lost all my needles!  I only have like 3 left...and they're hanging out in a plastic bag-this is much better!

This is my most favorite thing she made me!!  I LOVE this necklace, it is so beautiful and...just...awesome!  I was completely blown away by this.

Oh my goodness, this was an amazing swap package!  I love EVERYTHING!

Ok, I am going to post Tcha345's swap package that she sent me!  She made me a granny square hat from my wists.  I actually received this last friday but I haven't been able to take pictures until tonight.  But!  I have been wearing this hat all weekend Smiley  And, as you can tell my fiance loves it as well Wink

Ok, so don't mind the face.  I begged him not to do the sad face, but he insisted on doing it (I know!  He's like a two-year old, but I guess that's what you get for letting him have soda).   Anyways!  Despite the look on his face, I woke up this morning and he was out on the couch wearing the hat!  I of course quickly snatched it off his head and put it on.

This is the top of the hat.  I think this is probably my favorite square!

This is the back of the hat!

I LOVE all the colors!!  I am so jealous too!  I wish I could do this, but unfortunately I am still learning, but it's definitely slow going.

Ugh-I have been sick for like a week and I wasn't on craftster this weekend!  I know, I am having withdrawals.  Anyways!  I have received from Fraugee and Tcha!  I don't have pictures of the beautious hat that Tcha made me, but I will post those tomorrow.  Fraugee made me a beautiful pair of handwarmers (which completely fit my taste and everything!) and made my baby some babylegs!

Here are the babylegs!  Excuse the blur, it's hard to get a good picture of a crawling baby!

Here are the beautiful handwarmers!  I seriously love these!

I love everything Fraugee! Oh yeah...there was some chocolate too, but my SO couldn't get the camera out fast enough to get a pic of those!  I figure it was my way of protecting them from his Lactose Intolerance Wink

I will post Tcha's pics tomorrow!  I promise!!

Oh my goodness!  I'm a dork!  I forgot the Yule present and I uploaded the detailed pic of the beautiful altar cloth.

Ok, here is the most perfect altar cloth for my Gaia themed altar!

And!  Here is the prettiest offering plate ever!  It broke a little in transit, but it's easily fixable.

Ok, so I have finally got the pics from the swap package Saturn sent me.  She crafted so many awesome Gaia themed items for me!  Which I am completely in love with because Gaia is the most important Goddess to me.  Ok, on with the awesome-ness!

This is a detail shot of an altar cloth she made me.  I guess I forgot to upload the closeup of the altar cloth...that will be coming shortly!

This is a beautiful jewelry set that she made me!  I wore it yesterday and got lots of compliments Smiley

Look at this adorable Gaia statue that she made from my wists!  I have wanted something like this for a very long time!

this is the incense box she made me.  I think the painting on this is very beautiful!

She also gave me a beautiful postcard with manatees on it!  *I can't believe that you went scuba diving with Manatees!  I'm very jealous!*

And...as we were taking pictures of the awesome swap package, the baby was playing with her new toy and couldn't resist!  I had to slip in a pic of the baby-cakes!

10  Eeyore Cross Stitch in Needlework: Completed Projects by BTStars on: November 14, 2008 07:45:58 PM
I finished this back in December (yes that would be December '07) and have been meaning to post it.  So, here it is, almost a year after finishing it!

This is what it looks like from afar

Here are a couple closeups Smiley

I made this for my boyfriend so we could remember our anniversary.  "Alligator Food" is what we say to each other when we REALLY love each other Smiley
