41  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Camper's Swap. Sign Ups Closed - Send by June 11 on: June 11, 2007 02:15:17 PM
I sent mine out today. This goes against everything in my procrastinating nature. Craftster, you have transformed me.
42  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Halloween all year round on: June 11, 2007 09:28:48 AM
I think that you could make a great Halloween sweater or hat. A lot of the Halloween t-shirts and stuff that come out are really sort of cheap and crummy because we don't celebrate a Halloween "season" like Christmas. I love your stuffies idea too.
43  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Never too early to plan Halloween costumes, riiight?!?! Advice/Opinions! on: June 11, 2007 09:25:45 AM
You could also wear gold metallic shoes-- they always have that Egyptian look.
44  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / vintage look on: June 11, 2007 09:22:32 AM
I love that vintage Halloween look! That seems to be what the magazines are showing nowadays and I really like it. Good job.
45  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: What can I make with quilt blocks? on: June 01, 2007 08:01:38 AM
You can apply them to a tree skirt made of felt for a very easy project.

I've heard you can make a baby bassinette skirt out of a wedding dress or other full-skirted gown.
I myself was baptized in a gown made out of a wedding dress. The lace is spectacular. If you don't have a baby you can donate fancy baby dresses to fundraisers.
47  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Western Wear clothing ideas on: March 27, 2007 11:16:39 AM
If you have a friend with a bedazzler type stud setter, you can try and decorate a shirt, even a t-shirt, or shorts with western designs.
48  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Slovak/Czech "Kroj" or folk costume on: March 27, 2007 11:11:53 AM
My sister is going to be married in Slovakia by the end of the year ( we are not Slovak). I am curious as to whether anyone here has ever made any items of "kroj"(?) pronounced "kroy," or native folk costume of the Czech and Slovak area. I haven't seen any patterns for this type of dress in the Folkwear catalog. If my sister just goes ahead and gets her dress made in Slovakia, perhaps I will still try and make something traditional for my two-year-old daughter to wear.
Thanks for any help!
49  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: this strike is killing me ! on: February 09, 2006 07:45:51 AM
I'd let people know about the strike. They can make the decision as to whether or not to place the order. I don't understand what would be honorable about shutting down your business. It wouldn't make any difference to the postal workers.
Something you are going to have to consider is sending your packages from another city. You might just have to take a car or train with a huge duffel bag of packages to their post office.  If the mail there isn't going to be routed through Belfast that might be your (temporary) solution.
50  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Dangee, people are rude on: February 06, 2006 06:52:55 PM
Good grief, I can't remember the last time I actually told someone I didn't like the gift they gave me.... If I had thrown something on the floor screaming because it wasn't what I had anticipated, I don't know what my parents would have done to me, but I can tell you it would have hurt. If I got all snotty about a handmade bracelet (my SIL gave me one, by the way, with my daughter's name on it and I LOVE IT) my mother would be reaming me out for months.
My great-aunts are masters (mistresses?) of craft and I grew up thinking hand-knitted dolls and afghans were my birthright. One of them would give us stuff she obviously bought at garage sales, like old books about Donny and Marie, and I loved that stuff, too. Its a present, for crying out loud. It's FREE.
The hand knitted Barbie clothes did kind of suck, though. They made Barbie look fat.
