281  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Millions and Jillions of Dice (es?) on: July 27, 2004 07:58:01 AM
People make game tables with this pourable resin/acrylic.  They put game pieces, playing cards, dice, mardi gras beads-- whatever floats their boat, on a table, then pour the acrylic on, sealing the pieces in like flies in amber.  The table has to have some sort of edging, though-- some coffee tables do.  I've seen this at a lot of restaurants.

Thanks, freiss! I now feel empowered to buy that Darth Vader pan.
hillarybillary, those cake toppers are awesome. I love the lady's hat!
283  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: i want long healthy hair... on: July 26, 2004 10:12:12 AM
Physical exercise can also induce hair growth.  Maybe its because you get hot exercising (and you get hot in the summer).  My hair is pretty long and my tip is DON'T go to the hairdresser to get it cut when it looks weird-- you just have to stick out the awkward periods when you wonder why you ever started growing it out.
284  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Henna Hair Dye on: July 26, 2004 10:09:42 AM
Well, Lucille Ball used henna for decades... The thing is that lots of people pick up a package and do a lousy home dye job.  That isn't the henna's fault.  You have to prepare your hair just as you would for any dye job.  You also need to buy some that comes with adequate instructions.
285  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Milk Bath on: July 26, 2004 10:02:10 AM
The thing with using real milk products is that you have to rinse off really well or you will get a spoiled milk smell coming from various bits where the sun don't shine.
286  COOKING / Dessert / Re: really yummy diet popsicles on: July 26, 2004 09:30:54 AM
Diet jello? Great idea! I was tempted to make some pops with just kool-aid but realized they wouldn't have the syrupy consitency a real storebought one has.  You just may have solved my problem.
287  COOKING / Dessert / Wiltons w/out rules on: July 26, 2004 09:29:09 AM
I'm always finding really cool Wilton cake pans on ebay (Darth Vader, Holly Hobbie, etc.).  But lots of them no longer have their instructions or picture, and are too old to have their instructions on Wilton's website.  Not all of them are in the Wilton's "yearbooks" either.  Anyway, I am wondering if any of you have experimented with decorating with Wilton cake pans w/out instructions before. Was it too hard?  Did people think your Darth Vader was Jabba the Hutt? Did you like it that way?

My family deals with these health issues too, although I've been okay for now.  My grandma actually finds that too much sugar wreaks havoc with her levels, so you will probably have to experiment with what works for your boyfriend and what doesn't.  Unfortunately/fortunately, one of the things that seems to make a big difference in blood pressure is losing some weight (even just a few pounds).
289  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Cookie Cakes on: July 26, 2004 09:15:16 AM
Sounds good-- I've only heard of them made with the "spice cake" mix before. I resolve to try the devil's food...
290  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Can you dye lace? on: July 22, 2004 11:01:36 AM
If it has enough cotton in it you can dye it.  I saw a show once where they tea-dyed a bunch of seventies hot orange and green trim and made it into autumnal orange and green trim.
