1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Good summer patterns? on: February 25, 2005 12:27:31 PM
I just recycled my first sweater, a cotton blend. I've never knitted with cotton before--I'm a wool kind of gal--so any recs for cool summer patterns?

3  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Head Huggers=Amazingly Cute! on: January 23, 2005 04:41:36 PM
I liberated a skein of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino from my mom's stash, some amazing Noro Iro from my sister, and in about 3 hours had the neckwarmer! It is amazingly cute (I don't know how to post pictures yet, but will try to) and the flower pattern takes about 10 minutes and knits up some really lovely flowers. Highly recommend this pattern--I don't think you need much in the way of skills, so it's a great advanced beginner type thing!
4  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / SNBN Pattern Reunion in Target on: January 22, 2005 01:15:38 PM
I had to accost someone today in Target! She was wearing a fabulous version of the Cabled Newsboy Cap, and we chatted for a few seconds about the pattern. It was such a nice run-in; i always feel like I'm the only knitter my age in my small town, so it was really great to see someone who knits punk rock, too!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / WIPs and Future WIPs? on: January 21, 2005 12:45:22 PM
I love to list my WIPs and of course, my wishlist of future WIPs. Any other list addicts want to join?

Sitcom Chic cardie in Noro Kureyon
Top Down Raglan from scraps
Cabled hat

Future WIPS:
Hug from Magknits
Booby Holder from Glampyre
Beehive hat from SNBN
Accidentally on Purpose from SNBN
Flowered Neckband from SNBN

(all the yarn for all that came from elann.com for only $35!)
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Learning How To Read Charts: Any Tips? on: January 21, 2005 11:46:37 AM
Even though I've been knitting for a while, I haven't yet tried any kind of color work, Fair Isle, intarsia--anything that requires a chart--and darnit, I want to! Why self-limit, right?

The thing is, I have no idea how. Any tips/ websites/ etc. for how-tos? I'd like to make the Fair Isle cardie in SNBN, but don't want to invest in the yarn if I can't get the pattern...

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Yarn Substitutes for Gedifra Cicco? on: July 29, 2004 09:55:18 AM
I cannot find this yarn anywhere! I've looked at tons of online stores, even Ebay, but nothing! Can anyone recommend a substitute for me? I'd really like to knit Paris Loop, but was rec'd Cascade by my LYS, which is nowhere near Cicco and wasn't very nice. Help a knitter out!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Best Online Yarn Stores? on: July 25, 2004 02:17:12 PM
Any recs for good online stores? I was looking at yarnmarket.com, but thought I'd get your opinions!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I'm cabling! I'm really cabling! on: July 23, 2004 05:03:40 PM
I'm finally cabling, and it's so much easier than I thought it would be! I'm making a scarf from a Rowan book--I've left it at home, but it's a super long cabled scarf--and even though I had to totally frog it and start over, it's going well now!

The only problem: it's eating the yarn like no one's business. The pattern called for 4, and I'm already on the 3rd, and it's only a foot long. Am I doing something wrong, or is the pattern just insane as to the amount really needed?

10  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / big favor from a new poster! on: July 22, 2004 10:29:42 AM
I just found this site today and already my work productivity has plummeted!

I have a favor to ask of anyone who has their SnB book handy--I lent mine out to a friend learning how to knit: could anyone email me the pattern and yarn recs for the Coney Island Fireworks scarf? I was planning a trip to my LYS today after work, and would so, so appreciate your help!

Thank you thank you thank you--
