1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Remembering Honey (Interweave Sp 03)? on: May 12, 2004 07:38:25 PM
Has anyone made this yet?  I cast it on tonight so I could take it with me to jury duty tomorrow, but:

a) I don't think I'm doing the Purse Stitch correctly, or else the pattern is wrong.  I mean, it sounds pretty obvious -- "*Yo, p2tog; rep from *.  However the pattern is listed as being for over a multiple of 2 stitches.  Shouldn't it read for a multiple of 3 to make that work evenly?  Or is there something really obvious here that I am overlooking?

b) Although it seems that I am doing this pattern completely incorrectly, it sort of looks okay anyway.  I mean, I don't just think I'm being delusional...

So, anyone?  Thoughts?
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Critter Knitters? on: March 22, 2004 03:40:24 PM
Has anyone else cast on for the Critter Knitter Coalition Knit-a-thon?

http://www.critterknitters.org/

I've just started a blanket in plain old garter stitch for mindless knitting while watching bad teevee.  Anyone?  Anyone?
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Holiday knitting! on: December 23, 2003 03:56:54 AM
So, everyone...are you all done with your holiday gift knitting?  What kind of projects did you make for friends and family?

I made 5 scarves, 2 hats and 90% of a handbag (uhm, that one won't get sent until after the New Year, I suspect!).

I will post photos after Christmas so I don't ruin any surprises!
4  UNITED STATES / Massachusetts / Western Massachusetts knitting? on: November 30, 2003 05:35:45 PM
Hey all!  I am stranded in western Massachusetts and wondered if anyone knows of any knitting groups or decent yarn stores in the Berkshires...or even over in Northampton, where we frequently visit friends.

I know about Colorful Stitches in Lenox, but find them a bit pricey and their staff more than a bit snippy.  I also am familiar with Northampton Wools on Pleasant St., but it's a bit small.  Any place else?
5  Pennsylvania / Pennsylvania: Southwest / Pittsburgh area yarn stores? on: November 30, 2003 05:12:09 PM
While I'm in my homeland, Pittsburgh, visiting family over the Xmas holiday, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on cool yarn stores I could drop in to...thoughts?
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Embroidering on knitting? on: November 25, 2003 07:58:45 PM
Hey all, I totally heart this forum and have a question for you all...

I am making a few basic hats for holiday gifts, the majority of which are made with the body in stockingette stitch.  I would like to embroider words in homespun-looking cursive lettering (one will be "feminist," another will be "liberal," etc - basically labels that people are afraid of!).

I've never done this on knitted stuff before, and was wondering -- would you recommend that I use yarn or embroidery thread for the lettering?

Thanks in advance!
