1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Altered ATC Tin on: May 08, 2007 07:51:32 PM
I'm in this Yahoo Group (ATC_World) that is currently having an Altered ATC Tin Swap and I just wanted to show everyone my creation.  The swap hostess was great and sent me the tin for just $3.  I am going to send this back to her tomorrow and then she will send me someone else's!  I'm very excited.  The funny thing is...this is my first ATC project.  I haven't actually created an actual ATC yet.  I'm getting there though.  Soon I will have a holder at least!

This was created with a lot of scrapbooking materials...Cosmo Cricket's paper and little doodads.  Just some black acrylic paint.  Stickers.  And some black ribbon from Joanns.  Oh and that "flip for fun" part was actually on the sheet of paper, not meant to be used necessarily.  I thought it was appropriate. Thanks for looking!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Headboard (Want to redo/cover/paint mine) on: June 09, 2005 12:06:22 PM
So I have a full sized bed, and it does have a headboard.  Sorry I don't have a digital camera, so I will try to explain.  It is a faux metal - shiny gold.  It isn't a typical solid headboard, it just has thin columns of the shiny gold with huge spaces in between.  And then on the edges are two knob/ball like ends.  Something like this shape:

O _ _ ^ _ _ O
|    |     |     |
|    |     |     |
----------------

Does that make sense?  I have a Party Patio theme in my room, so it doesn't really match anything.  Plus I have two tiki torches that I put on either side of my bed, but don't really get the attention they deserve next to this headboard.  I usually just hang stringed lights in it, but now that I am moving and have the chance to paint or cover it, I was considering something new.

Can you paint shiny faux metallic gold like that?  Maybe a spray paint?  Or should I just cover it completely with a fabric to make a more rectangular shape?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Smiley
3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Moving and want to get rid of all of this stuff (knick knacks, etc) on: May 31, 2005 08:10:52 PM
So I have this semi-problem.  I am moving within the month and really REALLY want to throw most of this stuff away.  It has been accumulating for the past five years in this apartment.  What do you know, I am wonderful at being a packrat.

A lot of it though is knick knack stuff I got from my mom.  Candlesticks, little picture frames, old candles, etc.  Then there are the dolls from when I was younger and a bunch of snowglobes...

I know someone could put it to use so I don't want to throw it all away, I just can't keep it anymore.  My problem is that I can't have a garage sale and I don't have a digital camera to sell it all on Ebay before I move.  I've already donated a lot to Goodwill.  Any ideas on where I could take my nice dolls and maybe some of this other stuff?  Are there stores that take this stuff and pay me?  I just am wondering if anyone has done this before and has a good strategy.

Thanks for all of your help! Smiley
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Phone Books? on: July 23, 2004 11:44:10 AM
I just realized we have at least a dozen phone books from over the years, all in the same spot.  I live in a small town area, so they are thin (not those huge ones you see in movies).  They have grey sheets and of course the yellow pages.  What can I do with these?  Any crafty ideas with Mod Podge or something similar?  Smiley
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Making an earring HOLDER? on: July 21, 2004 09:57:04 PM
Hello everyone, this is my first official post, but I have gotten some WONDERFUL ideas already about some projects I want to do.  This is my new home!

My question is about an earring holder.  I am going to college this fall and right now all of my earrings just lay in a pile (mostly studs) on top of my dresser.  I would like to be a little more organized at school!  What do you use?  And any ideas for a handmade one?  I was thinking maybe wire or plastic mesh?  Hmm, let me know.  Smiley
