1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / My attempts at a crafty wedding on: July 14, 2009 07:02:57 AM
My fiance proposed on July 5th so I haven't gotten too much planned yet Smiley It was a total surprise--I knew he was coming upstate to ask my parents for their permission and blessings but I didn't know he planned on asking me a question too! We are planning a January 2010 wedding if it'll pan out. First he is moving closer to me--he's an hour and a half away--and then we need to book a venue. We don't have too much planned yet and I'm getting odd looks already when I say that I want to craft a lot of the wedding.

This is where he proposed:

Non-crafties just don't get it!! So far I have bridesmaid dresses. My boss called to tell me we had gorgeous $150 dresses on clearance for $9.00. Yup. $9. I of course had her put 3 on the side and rushed down after I got off my shift at the second location. They are beautiful!! So I got one for fiance's sister ( bridesmaid #1) and my little sister ( bridesmaid #2) and one for me  Roll Eyes cuz ya never know and for that price?!!! So this is the shot I sent fiance of me in the dress....

MOH is my older sister. That dress may take a little bit. She has been working out so we can't commit to a dress yet. And most likely my mom will have to make it. My colors are soft blue, black and touches of silver/white. So I want her to pick the style of it--I just want her to have a blue dress with black trim or black on it somewhere to tie into the other 2. We want to keep things simple. He doesn't like cake and I've wanted a cup cake tier for awhile so I'm thinking the top tier will be an apple pie for us instead of cake. I have a few other ideas floating around in my head but until we have a venue and a definite date I'm not too sure what else I can get started on!!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / burda 7642 on: May 01, 2009 11:01:09 AM
I've been in lurker mode for a realllllly long time but I have been wanting to try my hand at making clothes.
I picked burda 7642 view A and got the fabric today. Anyone done this pattern already and have helpful tips
or just tips in general for a coat?
Thanks!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Finally--a bag for ME!!! Yay!! on: February 25, 2008 05:00:45 PM
i ordered some pre-made purse handles from Tallpoppycraft.com and I've been waiting for this weekend to make something. I bought some place mats from Pier One planning on making this bag. Didn't like how the handles looked with the material so I went through my stash and found other place mats I had bought forever go!! Matched it with some great $1 a yard fabric from W-mart. So here is my new 'wish it were spring' bag!!

And now I'm realizing that I was in such a hurry I didn't lay it out nice. The side of it isn't really that wonky.I've been obsessed with birds lately so I painted a drawing I did on the bottom  Grin I tried to put in a close up but craftster photo hosting won't accept any pic I take that is only the bird. I got frustrated so I stopped trying. Does anyone else have that problem? It accepts only some of your pics even though there is nothing different in file size or anything? I don't get it. Embarrassed Cry

I tried to get a good shot of the fabrics. I put buttons over the bottom of the handles in the front and finally tried out my buttonhole foot! Amazing invention!!! The place mat is the dark teal; it's kind of woven. The main part of the bag is a teal and aqua "danish" floral as the bf calls it.

Whatcha think?
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / egyptian queen and floral bag on: February 03, 2008 08:32:31 PM
So this is the first bag I ever made and am now just getting the pics up. A little late I know. Made it for my little sister's birthday in August. The handles were a little wonky on the couch but they aren't really.

Then I made her this one for Christmas. I used some muslin and perfect purple fabric from my stash...

I used an image from stencilry. Anything Egypt is up her alley. Here's a pic of the handle and how I attached them. I used taping and covered it with a strip of the purple fabric. I love the look and durability of it. Quite proud that I thought of doing that.

Put in a zipper pocket for the inside so she can stay kinda neat. She's young enough that she doesn't carry too much stuff around.
I'm really happy with how it came out. I only started sewing again recently and these were some of the first projects. She loved it so I guess that's the most important thing. Hope you guys like! Any ideas on what could be done better for next time?

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / my new camera cozy! on: January 20, 2008 07:10:44 PM
This project has been on my list since Christmas Eve when I opened my camera. And now it's done! Whoot whoot!
I wanted a 'sketchy' look so I just sewed multiple lines until I was happy. I have an obsession with buttons so I had to incorporate some in some way! I made the outside out of felt and used a remnant from the purse I made for my sister for the lining. I added a layer of batting to help protect my toy. So here it is:

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / the demon purse--thank god this is done! on: January 20, 2008 06:09:26 PM
Okay I just lost everything I wrote. This bag is demon spawn. I couldn't upload a full frontal shot--I tried 6 different times but the picture hosting wouldn't accept any of my pictures. So annoying!! Angry  Huh Cry So here's a close up of the front with the button flowers I made and attached to it

The whole front looks like this picture of the back but the front has the buttons and a flap with magnetic snaps as a closure..

This shot has the underside of the flap and the keyfob I put into it. She has a 1 year old and needs to be able to get her keys easily. I put the keyfob on some green ribbon I had instead of the usual piece of fabric. I'm not too sure whether or not I like it but I guess it's in there to stay at this point....

And last shot I promise! This is the lining fabric and the zipper pocket I put in. It's got another shot of the keyfob as well. I used the tute from adding a zipper pocket to a jordy bag. I love that tutorial and highly recommend it...

I want to make a small cosmetic bag to match for her birthday present too. Yeesh. I'm crossing my fingers now that this will post and I won't have anymore problems with this bag. What do you think?
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Completed Projects / first three pages of scrapbook!*added more! on: January 20, 2008 04:40:38 PM
So over the summer I  made a couple scrapbooks for an expecting family member. My aunt liked them so much she told me I had to make one for her. So crazy that I am, I offered to not only do the outside of the book but also all the pages inside. Crazy I know. So I have three done. I used a mixture of ribbon, paper, stamping and drawing. All the pics are of my aunt and uncle's cat Jillian. She is their child and baby so suffice it to say I have many pictures to work with....
Here's the first page

Under Jilly is a quote by Hemingway:'A cat has absolute emotional honesty. Human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not.'

This is the second one I did:

This is one of her many many nicknames from my uncle. It's spelled Her but pronounced Hair. He's a crazy one. But amusing. I drew a domino next to her name plate since that is what he calls her food and she was licking her chops in the pic.

Okay last one:

Yet two more nicknames for Jillian. I think this one is my favorite so far. I sewed a button over where the ribbons intersected.

The cover isn't done yet but it's embroidered and has flower embellishments. I'll post it when it's done if you guys are interested...

So what do you think so far? Good, bad, meh? Huh Smiley

I just finished 5 more pages:

8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Sewn and doodled Birthday card on: January 08, 2008 08:12:23 PM
It is my ex-boss' birthday and I wanted to at least mail her a card since I'm still trying to finish her Christmas present Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
I just drew the swirls, added a few buttons. The "patch" has gold ink around the edges. and I sewed the patch on. Umm think that's it...So here's the card

And I did a little matching ditty for the envelope:

Do you think she'll like it?
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / some christmas prezzies!! on: December 29, 2007 09:03:13 AM
I made this image for my old boss' son and my bf's step-nephew. His nephew was reading it and making dino noises when he opened it! I was so glad he liked it! I used a simple dino stencil from stencilry and added the rawr! and the scales to make it look more like a dragon or at least something that would go rawr!  Cheesy Anyway here's the pic...

So far this is the only pic I have. I was so excited that I forgot to take pics and am now waiting for them from the recipients  Tongue.
I'm having trouble uploading my bf's christmas shirt. Once I get another pic I'll post that one too.
Thanks for looking!
