1  Lil Firecracker and a few other projects (IMG heavy) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by mtaplusone on: May 25, 2009 12:36:28 PM
I saw this really sweet patriotic dress at cracker barell, but was unwilling to pay the $40.00 so I went home and created my own version for less than $4.  I already had the red and white stripe fabric, the pattern and the corkers make up Smiley

semi action shot - she was praying

A little apron top - pattern from YCMT (faith double layer top)

summer dresses I made on some snow days, I had to have something to look forward too (mccalls, see and sew,  and new look patterns)

skorts (YCMT preppy skirts patterns-the khaki one is my own modifications on the pattern)

2  Tops for 3 cousins in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by mtaplusone on: June 07, 2008 06:22:59 AM
My mom specifically requested that I make my daughter and my one neice something that matched.  She wanted a dress, but refused to take measurements of my neice who lives 550 miles away from me, and I was leary of just trying something out only to have it not fit.  I decided to make them these cute little tops from a pattern I bought from YCMT called the Hope Joy Bubble Top.  It worked up very easily, I used fat qtrs, and had enough left to piece together a 3rd top for my other neice who lives 800 miles away.  THe girls are 2 (mine,) 4 and 6. They are not matching, but co-ordinated, and I was able to make all 3 in less than 12 hours along with feeding my family 3 times that day, a trip to the pool for 2 hours and a trip to walmart to purchase additional elastic.
Sorry for the long story.  Here are pics:

3  Daisy Dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by mtaplusone on: June 05, 2008 04:03:09 AM
I just love the way this dress turned out!  My daughter felt the same way and would not take it off after I had her try it on last night.  Thank goodness I waited until after our spaghetti supper.  It is a pattern I bought from YCMT called the criss cross dress.

it is perfectly twirlable!

This was Friday afternoon's naptime project.  In total, it cost me under $3.00 and took about an hour to make Smiley

I just love this fabric and I love how the outfit turned out.  I made one first for a little girls friend and my little girl was very envious I had to buy more fabric and make one for her too.  They should both be wearing them to church this Sunday and I hope to get some better action shots.  Ignore the rambo/rainbow headbands and the overly cheesey face Cheesy

7  Baroque Bandana Print T-Shirt Dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by mtaplusone on: April 09, 2008 07:32:21 AM
Quick and easy 1 hour or less project.  Two bandanas (pre-hemmed!) from AC Moore and a ballet tee from target clearance.  1 hour and less than $5-:)  The print on the bandanas is quite a stretch for me, I'm usually pretty conservative but these just called out to me Wink turns out with just enough twirliness for the princess.

8  Inspired-Retro Dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by mtaplusone on: April 05, 2008 05:46:01 AM
I was totally inspired and envious when I saw this post:

I had totally convinced DH to draft our own version of this (he is so awesome!) when I remembered a pile of patterns a friend had bestowed upon me-all circa the 70's.  Lo and behold, a near match was find, in the correct size for my wee one Smiley  Mc Calls 6501 size 2. With a few minor modifications this is my version:

My fabric markings are still there-sorry!
Feedback is greatly appreciated!

My little girl wants to be just like her big brother, except she wants to be a princess too.  She saw this fabric and immediately said..."ooooh, pretty, me, Dress!"  I complied.

Comments welcomed!

10  Latest projects in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mtaplusone on: August 13, 2007 04:02:43 PM
My first opp. to work with Amy Butler-isn't it delish?

inside view with regular pockets and zipper pocket

can you see the snap loop meant for a key holder?

A UNC bag for a friend who is getting married and didn't need registry stuff...I should have made it a bit taller so the pen/pencils didn't stick out above the top.  Oh well, I suppose it will make them easier to find?

And I know this isn't a bag-bit it was so cute I had to show it too-my first hooded towel! A gift for a friends daughter for her 1st birthday...along with a headband and some lace trimmed socks.

Thanks for looking!
