11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Frugal Living Swap (SIGNUP CLOSED; MAIL BY 2/6/2010) on: January 22, 2010 03:32:09 PM
Just checking in.... I haven't been able to craft at all this week. Sad We have gotten 71 inches of snow so far and have had no power since tuesday morning. Work has a generator though, so I'm sneaking on Craftster to post!! Hopefully power will get restored by tomorrow (so they are saying...crossing my fingers here!!)

OMG... Am I the only one that can't keep up with the discussion?? Every time I log on there are a million more pages!!  Shocked Shocked Not that it's a bad thing, but I just don't know when I'll be able to read everything. Maybe I'll dedicate an hour or so soon if I can!

I can't keep up with it either! And SAHMama - I didn't even realize you are in this swap too! yay!! On an unrelated to this swap note - I am about 75% done with your angel package!  Cheesy

Made more progress last night on this swap too - I have two smalls all done and working on the medium.  But I just got another brilliant idea....so.... may have to start on that today too.

wow, this thread grows so much every time I log in!  Had a crazy week but now have three days off and it's supposed to snow feet, so I'll have lots of time to hide inside and craft away!

Kaz - we are just in the process of getting rid of our satellite TV. Here are some of the ideas we have come up with - many shows, you can purchase on iTunes or watch online. Figure out what you'd miss the most and then look for online sources. I love Project Runway, but I know I can watch it online the next day and they will post the whole season up for a short time right after it ends. Husband loves Mythbusters - we can get that on iTunes or on DVD.

See what kind of DVDs your library has available. You might be surprised! We check the clearance rack at the used book store and get DVDs for $3. We watch them and then put them on SwapaDVD.com and trade them for other movies we want.

If you like to have a bit of background noise (I'm like that too) find a good radio station, play some music CDs or listen to books on CD.

We also figure with the money we save each month we can occasionally go and buy a complete season of something we want to watch. We'll be saving about $90 per month. We'll put some of that away but probably drop $20 in a jar most months for DVD purchases (which will be watched and swapped!). We're also considering getting Netflix or Blockbuster online. ($8-$10 per month).

We have Netflix for $9 per month. We also have an xbox with xbox live set up. You can stream unlimited movies/tv shows/etc through the xbox live. It's really cool! I am trying to get rid of my satellite bill as well.

am i the only one who can never remember what they've put on the questionnaires?!
i'm excited to start for my partner, but am concerned now that i wasn't clear or may have been confusing! (i know i feel confused now!)

ack- i'll just leave it all up to you my dear, and i'll get on with treating you to some thrifty, homemade goodies!  Cheesy
I always forget what I put on my questionnaire!! I've started saving a copy in my outbox now so I can go back and look later!! Smiley

On a side note I have a question for all you creative gals with regards to snack foods. Or moreso healthy-use-what-you-have snacks. I almost always get a bit hungry in the middle of the day but don't EVER know what to snack on. I'll either end up defaulting to junk (which I hate) or not eating anything at all (which makes me a million times more hungry when dinner rolls around) I just didn't know if you guys had any good suggestions. I already do the veggie sticks but just looking for something else.

(btw two new posts were made just while I was typing this Tongue)

I didn't have a chance to read all the responses to this yet - but here's what I keep on hand at work for when I become starving (hourly, it seems Wink )
apple slices with a bit of peanut butter
string cheese
trail mix (usually almonds and cranberries)
plain greek yogurt with some honey (just learned to make my own, without a yogurt maker! yay!)
homemade lowfat granola (way cheap if you don't put a bunch of nuts and stuff in it)

ok, off to finish reading the 9 pages i posts i missed since I didn't log on for 12 hours!! lol!
